The foot? Yeah, it's alright, I'm still limping around but it's getting better every week! I don't think I'll be back on the treadmill anytime soon but maybe by Feb or March I'll be full function.

That sounds more like what I'd end up with. Last year I argued and got a little more than usual.

Our year is July 1 - June 30 so I have a ways to wait.

 

Does anyone have recommendations for CBs or which ones to avoid?

 

Depends what your price range is. Cobra has some decent cheaper end ones. I have a Uniden Bearcat880 that I use which was not cheap

 

For how often I would actually get the use out of it, I'm looking for ~$100>. I can be swayed to spend more if the features are well worth the increase in price.

The main things that seem to jump out at me that would be nice to have is: relatively small size for easy mounting options, PA, weather, channel scanning

 

I like my Cobra 75. It's nice cause you can unhook it and the rest starts hidden. The more important thing is antenna placement and install.
