Here, we see two generations of a truck that has been living in the Tacoma's shadow for almost 20 years...

The newer silver one is a 2006 and I know the guy who owns it. He installed a double-DIN head unit in his Frontier before I put one in my Taco, but he did not initially put in a backup camera. After I told him about my backup camera and how great it was, he quickly purchased one and installed it in his Frontier!

One part of this incident I missed because I went back into the bar to retrieve my leather jacket. I'm posting this now because I wasn't aware of it at the time of the original post, and my boss told me about it last night...

For starters, there were two guys who were apparently friends, but my boss tells me only one of them was actually trying to steal my Uber...

Obviously, boss was drinking with us that night. My boss is a 5'3" Asian woman in her late 20s, and she saw the attempted Uber-jacking take place. To say she can take care of herself and hold her own is an understatement...

She was much drunker than I was, but she came outside to help anyway, just as I was heading back into the bar to grab my beloved leather jacket.

While I was in the bar getting my jacket, my boss pretty much forcibly removed the would-be Uber thief from the backseat of this woman's Lancer.

She apparently pulled him out of the car, spun him around, and pushed him backwards into his equally-hammered friend. These two guys were not quite as big as me (I'm 6ft tall and 240lbs), but as I said before, my boss is a petite Asian woman. They were most definitely bigger than her. Despite the obvious size difference and unfair advantage, these guys knew not to fuck with my boss.

I'd already gotten the okay from my lovely Uber driver, Jennifer to ride shotgun before realizing I forgot my jacket...

My boss is the type of Uber rider who treats it like a taxi or limo service, and always rides in the back. For the third time, my boss is smaller than me. If I get picked up in something big and roomy like a Town Car, a large SUV, or a minivan, I'll ride in the back. However, most of the UberX drivers who've picked me up drive smaller 4-door sedans. I've been using Uber since 2015 and only twice has my driver ever made me ride in the backseat. Those two drivers were in a Honda Civic and a Nissan Xterra, respectively. I'm just a big guy and I don't fit very comfortably in the backseat of the typical Uber or Lyft car. 99% of drivers understand this, and I must be doing something right because I have 4.9 out of 5 stars!

Anyway, so unbeknownst to my boss I'd already gotten permission from my Uber driver to ride in the front seat, but my boss was just looking out for my drunk ass and making sure I didn't just barge into this woman's front seat.

Jennifer said that it was in fact okay for me to sit into the front seat, we said our goodbyes and thank yous, and we were off!

The Borough of Doylestown really is not very good at efficient removal of leaves!

They just keep piling them up until they take up entire parking spaces! Then they request that residents (and people who work in D-town; as in people who pay taxes) not park in the parking spaces until the leaves have been cleared, all the while taking their sweet time to remove the leaves!

    :annoyed:

I love my parents, but sometimes they are real party poopers! This is especially true of my mom...

A perfect example would just last week when I put the battery-operated lighted wreath on the front my Tacoma. My mom initially wanted me to take the whole thing off, citing it as a potential safety hazard and distraction. Then, she compromised and said I could leave the wreath on but remove the lights. My mom was worried that the wreath would block airflow and cause the truck to overheat. My dad was worried that having batteries in close proximity to the engine could cause problems. I went on the almighty TW and very quickly debunked my parents' concerns. I told my parents that the people of TW had confirmed what I'd been telling them and it ceased to be an issue...

The biggest issues all involve drinking...

When I was younger, like 20-22 years of age, and a good number of my friends were still underage, this was not a problem. Nobody really cared that my parents didn't allow drinking among my friends when I threw parties. However, before long we were all old enough to drink. My friends' parents all allowed drinking at their houses, and even allowed people to spend the night if necessary. My parents were legitimately concerned about one or more of my friends getting a DUI or getting into an accident, but at the same time didn't like the idea of a bunch of my drunk friends sleeping over. My friends (those with AS and without it) all have impressive drinking skills, but we are all quite responsible. We don't start trouble when we're drunk, and we don't get much more than a really bad hangover afterwards. Before my long, all of my friends were well into their twenties and wanted to have fun (drink) at parties. My friend Dave came right out and said that my parents were no fun. I'm pretty sure we haven't had a full-blown party at my house since about 2014.

My parents grudgingly let it slide if I have one or two friends over and we each have a beer or two, but my best friend John told me one time that he'd had one beer during a visit to my house, and one of my parents had asked him if he was sure he would safe to drive home. It kind of annoyed him.

    SOLUTION:
I work at a bar and have been friends with the general manager of the aforementioned bar for years. I started having my birthday parties at my place of employment in 2015, as well as my college graduation party. The part of the bar my boss normally lets my friends and me take over for my parties was being renovated in 2016, so I had my birthday party at another bar I know the owner of, which is right around the corner. At a bar, the issue of drunk party guests is no longer my problem, or my parents' problem.

Then, there's the issue of drinking in itself. I do not drink as much as my parents seem to think I drink. I've had a few hangovers, but I've never puked as a result of drinking too much. I do not cause trouble when I'm drunk, and I also do not drink and drive. I always use Uber (sometimes Lyft), or get a ride home with a sober friend or coworker. The issue in my case is never going to be drunk driving. In the summer of 2016, I partied with my friends on weekends and came home hammered a few times. My parents, specifically my mom again, thought that this could lead to alcoholism. An alcoholic cannot go days or even weeks without a single drink, get hammered and drink most of his friends under the table over the course of one Saturday night, and then go another week or two without a single drink. The only issue I've had as a result of drinking is putting on weight. I cut back on the drinking, especially hard liquor, and lost a lot of weight. My parents have eased up a bit about this.

Decorating the house for various holidays is also a hotly debated topic, exclusively with my mom. At Halloween, she'll bicker about how I place fake tombstones and skulls along the front sidewalk, saying they might scare the younger trick-or-treaters. She doesn't like it when I use decorations and props that make noise or emit bright/flashing light. My dad almost always takes my side on the issue of Halloween decorations.

When it comes to decorating the house for Christmas, my mom is also the hardest to negotiate with. My mom prefers white lights, but my and I prefer the multicolored ones. For years, we put colored lights on the Christmas tree, but white lights on the front of the house. Now, it's the other way around, but if my mom had things her way there would be no colored lights. My dad bought several strands of lights (both colored and white) about 10 years ago, and set me loose on the house. The light sets typically last anywhere from 3 to 10 years, though I'm pretty sure I have at least one set from the late 1990s that still works), and when a set starts to show signs of age (a whole section of lights is out or the cord is frayed, etc), my dad buys anywhere from one to three or more new sets. I've been in charge of outdoor decorations for years and cannot remember the last time my dad assisted me in actually putting up the lights. Since I've had my driver's license, he's just given me his credit card, told me how much I can spend, and sent me to Home Depot, Target, Wal Mart, or any of the local retail establishments. Gotta love it!

Be careful with the booze, it can catch you. It fun to socially drink and get hammered with friends.
Be alert, when you love the the booze first than you a drunk. You will know the difference between fun drinking and loving alcohol first.

Thanks for your concern! I've definitely the fun drinking type. It's been 5 days since my last alcoholic beverage. I had a Busch NA at my Grandma's house on Saturday, but that doesn't count. My next drink will be at my friend's surprise 30th birthday party on December 16th.

I've got a funny story about that actually. This was just this past September, right before summer officially ended...

I stopped at Grandma's to spend the night on a Friday night before heading to a custom van show in Schuylkill County. I live in Central Bucks County and my Grandma lives in the Lehigh Valley area, so her house was pretty much on the way to the van show. My female cousin who lives about an hour from my Grandma further North also came to visit and spend the night.

We are all hanging out around the kitchen table and we're all having hot tea. It was either my cousin o my grandma who was dunking their tea bag, and one of them (I think it was my cousin) made a remark about "tea bagging." I immediately started laughing, and my cousin realized what she'd just said and started laughing too.

My grandma immediately realized this must be some innapropriate slang term and asked what it meant. I said "You don't want to know, Grammy." My cousin, who is my age (my grandma is 79) agreed.

Maybe an hour later, Grammy asks again what tea bagging was and I turn to my cousin. I ask "What do you think? Should I tell her?"

She (my cousin) says "You may as well..."

So, I proceeded to give Grammy an accurate definition of what tea bagging was. My cousin started laughing and told me that my description of the term was worthy of Webster's Dictionary, and Grammy was a bit grossed out but not mad because she'd wanted to know...
