    @zacharypaul89

Why no love on the Toytec diff drop? I have heard lots of people recommend it.

@CountryDan Thanks for the advice. I will check them out.

I dont have the tools, time, and most of all I don't have the knowledge to do the job. I love to learn this stuff but I only have Sundays off.....

No shame in having a shop do it. You will find most people here want to help you learn and feel that they are encouraging you to overcome any reluctance to work on your vehicle. In your case, the shop route is probably best.

True. I would love to do it. I did springs on my F-150 once and the spring compressor I rented from AutoZone scared the living crap out of me.
Compressing that spring was something that took me a bit out of my comfort zone! I think its what you call "chicken shit" back where I come from.

Oh, well. Im going to keep on the beach for a reputable shop that won't knock my head off.

I am most concerned about the ECGS busing being done properly.. That seems bit more involved....

The bushing requires removing wheel, axle dust cap, axle nut, 2 bolts holding lca to hub, skid under front diff and axle. The puller can be a pain, axle was a pain before I removed skid and tapping in bushing is just time consuming due to lack of room to swing the hammer. It's not complex but you need some mechanical aptitude for sure.

    Check The Build Thread
Check the Trip Delay Curve on the Blue Sea website. I went with a 100A breaker for my M8000 based on the amount of time it would take to trip the breaker on a given percentage of load.

Had a diff drop on mine...just forgot to pull it out when the dealer installed spacers came off and full suspension went in. Had ECGS pull it when lockers and gears went in. No noticeable difference...tech at ECGS was very happy to pull it because they don’t feel it has any real benefit.

Wow. Thanks for the photos! Do you think I need to buy the removal tool from ECGS if i go to a shop to have it installed ? I just need to find a place that has done it before.

I hate the thought of paying to have something done and they don't do it properly....

Tool is cheap and couldn't hurt. Have no idea on shop recommendations. I will differ to other members as I have had nothing done by a shop aside from tires, alignments and the free yota oil changes in 25yrs.

Edit: by no means am I a badass mechanic. Just paranoid about others touching my truck and have several mechanic friends who help with my questions.

I'm going to need some help doing mine in the spring when it warms up, unless one of you has a heated shop with a lift I can use. Gotta get a new CV too. Somebody jacked up the threads on the outer.

They don't truly drop the differential on the 2nd gens...it just changes the angle of the diff, which possibly prevent the oil from properly lubing the diff as well as not really helping with the CV angles that much.

It also lowers the diff, which can expose it when off-roading.

It takes more work to do that than it does to go LT in the front

Yeah I remember that rig. It was LT (oddly built) and it had the outer CV joint in the spindle and the inner joint in the diff. But no shaft or anthing.............. :bananadead:
