    Hey all,

So I recently bought a wiring harness for my ditch lights. I wasn't too fond of the flip switch that came with the harness so I bought my own push button switch that fills into the openings on the left of the steering wheel. With that being said, the wire colors on the harness switch are black, red and white. I cut the original flip switch out and am trying to solder the wires of my new push button switch to the old ones, but I don't know which wires connect to which ones. The wire colors of my new push button are black, green, red with yellow and another red with yellow. I know the black connects to the black but from there I am lost.

I saw some videos on youtube but those videos had different colors on their wiring harness ex. blue or yellow instead of white.

Any help would be great, Thanks in advance!

Green is battery or 12v switched ignition
    Red 1 is your lights
Red 2 is your red/yellow wire that gets wired to illumination
    Black is ground

Instead of focusing on colors, you should focus on what each one does.

    Flip switch:
    • ground
    • power in
    • power out to lights

    Push switch:

    • ground
    • power in
    • power out to lights
    • to dash lights so the switch comes on

Without knowing exactly which wires are which on the harness, here's my best guess

    Black > Black
    Red > Green
    White > Red 1
    Dash lights > Red 2

I see the problem, there is a Jeep on the switch, not compatible with Tacoma. :D

Good luck. For now, don't focus on the all red one (red 2) and just worry about sorting the other 3 out. Once you get that, then I'll explain where red 2 goes so it lights up with your dash.

Actually, come to think of it- I used a Mictuning harness for my lightbar. If I get a chance tonight, I'll pop the switch out and tell you what colors are going from my switch to my harness.

Note on the 4 wire type switches OP got. They don't normally dim correctly with the dash lights. Most don't seem to think that's an issue.

Did you try what I said? Wire colors don't mean a thing here, because different harness makers will use different colors for the same thing.

You are right though that "red 2" goes to the add a circuit.

Just tried every wire possibility and nothing. Maybe that harness is not compatible with this push button ?

Is that switch capable of handling the amp draw from those lights? I know it is probably low, but you may need a relay as well.
