I don't smoke but I let my friends smoke in my truck, so long as we're driving and the windows are down.

It's pretty rare though that anyone smoke in my truck. Most of my Friday that do respect the fact that I don't smoke. It's only when I pick one of them up to give them a ride home because they've been drinking that they ever really ask.

I will smoke a cigar every now and then, though. Maybe 5-6 a year.

    Great memory, great stories Charlie!

Those early 90s GMCs certainly had there problems, but that brand had and still has quite a following - lots of loyal customers, maybe even more so than Toyota. A few of my friends that work in blue collar professions make fun of my truck, but I just laugh when they tell me the repair bills for their trucks made by Ford and Chevy just a few years before mine.

My dad drove a 1992 Camry for 15 years. He sold it with 280k miles, no major repairs ever having been done, and it was still running like a top! That's what started my love for Toyotas.

I saw one when I was in Kazakhstan last time. Had a small lift, larger tires and a few other mods. Looked good.

Also, isn't awesome that we can criticize our own government as well as the governments of other countries?

A politician is a lot like a heat pump trying to keep a house warm when it's below freezing.

They both make a lot of noise but rarely work properly!

A fair number I suspect ended up in the Mid East courtesy of the USSOCOM. That was until they realized just driving any old Toyota pickup doesn't mean you blend in with the locals driving their Toyotas. That's probably when the overseas Hiluxes, Rangers and Cruisers started showing up stateside for upfitting at Battelle.

I thought it was a conscious decision to buy new Tacos stateside, turn them into technicals, and bring them to the Middle East?

It was but no one stopped to think that Tacomas only exist in North America and so they might as well as painted stars and stripes and put a great big "America says Hello!" on the side. It's like when someone sees a Hilux here, it stands out to even a casual Toyota observer.

There's that one TW member who lives in Poland. He refers to his '95 Taco as a "Taliban Truck."

I said I'd being willing to lift it, not lower it. My imagination far exceeds my budget right now!
