Id get an OR and mod from there. You don't get any performance upgrades with the pro that would make it cost prohibitive to do the same (or better) to the OR.

At the end of the day, you're still going to get stuck with the same engine, which is the major drawback, in my opinion, of the 3rd gen (and auto transmission if you don't get a standard trans).

Has anyone seen how the leather trimmed interiors look like on the 18’ OR?

Can you add the rear locker, tech package, BSM etc. to an SR5? No? So that's why.

Get an OR unless you can get a good deal on the Pro and really want Cavalry Blue, etc... You can get the Pro's for at least $1000 under MSRP. MSRP or over is just bananas.

Thing that gets me is the pro has the exact same engine and transmission, if the pro came with a v8 or a super charger/turbo then I would justify the price tag....

SR5 is alot cheaper and add what you find you need
Lots of after market companies make the hardware to make a SR5 into an OR, the crawl control just for people that don't know how to drive.

I don't want to deal with aftermarket. The OR has what I want. I don't need crawl control, but everything else is what I wanted. Trying to make an SR5 into an OR is just riduclous.

I just priced out an SR5 with V6 4x4, not adding any other options and the MSRP already says $34K. Not sure how it's cheaper as that's about what I paid for my OR fully loaded.

Go for the Pro. If you really want it it...get it. No sense in getting an Off Road and then regretting it later.

If you don’t care about doing mods, and your not planning on doing extreme offroading, and you like the look of the pro get it.
It’s your cash. Get what you want.
Stock it will go anywhere for the most part, and you have full warranty with no service dept complaining about aftermarket stuff.

The list price for mine was $32K, here in the vampire state an OR fully loaded was around $45K. I thought I could get there (hardware wise) with $10k.

You see how many with Off Roads say an Off Road? See how many Pro Owners say they're sorry for getting a PRO instead of OR?

If you want to leave it stock, go with the pro to get all the stuff you like. But if you are wanting suspension, etc. upgrades you’re better off with an off road.

The PRO at MSRP is the best deal of all of the Tacomas!

Get a Pro if you want one but the OR is a way better buy.

You can get an SR5 and add OBA, front and rear air lockers, and Fox Level 2 suspension (better than the PRO suspension) and come in ~3k less than a TRD Pro. I don't see why anyone would ever go with a TRD Pro unless you just really like bling.
