"For decades, Toyota’s compact pickups have earned the reputation for being un-killable workhorses. But the average modern truck buyer expects a lot more comfort and convenience from their pickup then they did 20 years ago, and, for that, the Tacoma sticks out in all the wrong ways. A stiff ride, rocky on-road handling, uncomfortable interior, and early model reliability issues have left buyers and CR’s reviewers cold."

Go ahead, call me poor for not having the 3rd gen (not at all the case). Flame me. I don't care.

Personally, I'd rather have the reliability than the frivolous things like comfort or doodads. Want fancy shit? Get an unreliable american car.

Regardless of it's capabilities, I can not bring myself to call the Ridgeline a truck.

This tells you everything you need to know. Basically saying the “average truck buyer” these days doesn’t actually want a truck, they want a crossover that that LOOKS like a truck.

They can fault Toyota all they want for making an actual truck, but some of us bought it exactly because of that.

:facepalm:Pretty sure this is what CR always says about the Tacoma. 2nd gens didn't exactly get glowing reviews from them either.

So, what exactly was the point of this thread, other than trolling the 3rd gen section? :deadhorse:

No one ever points out that Consumer Reports is a narrow and small targeted sample. The target demographic are those that subscribe to the Mag.

I've never subscribed to it but my dad, who is in his 70's, subscribes to it. He drives Lexis.

I can imagine that the representative sample size of 2017 Tacoma owners who happen to subscribe to Consumer Reports is roughly 2 people.

Agreed. The average truck buyer has separate shampoo and conditioner.

The point of this thread is that @TacoJohn is not poor, but does have a lot of free time on his hands.

He also doesn't care if he gets flamed.

Other than that, no point really....

Second gen frame issues did more to harm the "unkillable" reputation Toyota had than anything the third gen has or could do.

Meanwhile OP's secret wet dream is that the Taco market crashes so he can get a new Taco on the cheap.

Well played OP, well played
