    So I'm sure that I am not the only one on here that has/had a hard time justifying an intake on these trucks, so this is for those who want one that's budget friendly..

    TRD intake tube $45 (from the dealership near me)
    K&N filter $45 (inlet for this is 4 1/2"
    Spectre 3" coupler $10 or you can get the coupler kit from toyota for about $40
    About a 18-24" of vac hose $3
    inline connectors (2) for the vac line to be extended
    1/2" elbow

    Drill two holes on ether side of coupler between intake tube and throttle body, one with a 1/2" bit and the other about 1/8". Slip elbow into the larger hole on radiator side of coupler and small inline connector into the other hole. Secure all clamps. Swap sensor over to new intake tube.

    I will be working on an aluminum support to hold intake above the valve cover this weekend and a heat shroud made of kydex after Christmas.

    Why doesn't do anything but give noise? No MPG Gains, Performance Gains, HP Gains. So even if it is cheaper you get nothing out of it.

    @Unchained 5150

    Wanted an intake is all.. I fully get the only thing that adds real performance to these trucks is boost... Posted this for those that might have an interest, not the whys, that's stupid, and the other crap.. serves no purpose...

    But now aren't you pulling hot air in from the engine bay, instead of the relatively cooler fender area?

    I get that you wanted to show a inexpensive homemade Cold air intake.
    But it's also good to have the feedback. So other members or readers understand they will not recived any gains and they would be adding a Hot air intake. :thumbsup:

    I always wondered why someone would put these on any vehicle. Test results from what i read in consumer report all showed more air flow also results in more dirt flow into the engine. But they still sell alot of them.
