Official 2017 NCAA Football thread

Well, someone pointed out to me that since the NCAA opened up this early recruitment period, you almost have to jump to your new team before the bowl games to get the recruits for next year. I think the NCAA may tweak that a bit after all these crazy coaching moves.

 

I completely agree.

 

I guess that is true since they just renewed goddell's contract for 200 million. Declining ratings though at some point in time will affect finances. Doesn't seem like college coaches make good pro coaches except for pete carroll who seems to do decently at each. Saban, holtz, petrino, spurrier to name a few kind of fizzled.

Now that I search for it, I’m seeing Pruitt too...this morning I saw he turned it down because he wanted to finish the playoffs with bama and they said no.

 

I hope Pruitt thinks this all the way thru...the culture is terrible at UT. If it smells like it probably is!

He needs a guaranteed contract 7 years 75 million with incentives for every SEC win, total power, absolute control, air plane anytime, 25 million assistant coach budget...

 

Yea that’s why I was hoping Tucker wasn’t going to leave for the UT job.

He’s not getting anywhere near that.

BUT...I think he’s a good hire. I don’t know how he’ll fare as a head coach, but he’s a no nonsense, no bullshit guy. It’s his way or get the hell out. That’s the kind of guy they need right now. He’s a hell of a DC. Hated to see him go when we lost him.

 

His agent has a lot of leverage right now, UT ran off 8-10 really good ones. They played all their cards, Pruitt needs to go in with a guarantee. This will take 3-5 years to turn around.

I hate the fact that coaches can be contacted before their current season is over. The early signing days for recruits really screwed that up. 2 years in a row now Bama has to deal with this in the most important games of the season. Regardless of Pruitt staying through the playoffs(if he does)...the players have that in the back of their minds the whole time. Distraction much? Being the standard of college football takes its toll at the most inopportune times. Oh well, as Bama has done before, best of luck to Pruitt and on to the next!
