Nice looking Baja. I had a 2013, and put the Baja suspension on my 2017.

I'm getting stoked on Christmas this year! Anyone else got their lights up yet? The ladies in our family are doing cookie day on Saturday and I can't wait to eat cookies fresh out of the oven all day.

    Let's see 'em!

Us, too! Your tree is beautiful. Nice touch with the train track, too, I would never have thought of that. Way to get the 4Runner in the picture of the light setup.

We're going to get a tree next weekend in Jemez. I'm crossing my fingers that there will be some snow on the ground by then.

Dang, Ron, that's cool of you to hook up your Mom & Pop.

As for the roof rack idea...

I know where @smw62891 stands, but did anyone grow up watching Christmas Vacation every year and get the feeling that the laser lights are cheating?

Thanks! First year we decided to go with a fake tree . We end up having it up from after thanksgiving to New Years so with that length of time the cleanup is just so much easier. Train is inherited from my mother when i started my family, think it's close to 30 years old and still works great. Need to get lights on both the 4runner and taco next year since they don't fit in the garage!

I'm even getting tired of my laser lights, think I'm getting rid of them next year

Those are all some nice-looking decorations! The gingerbread house & scene was fantastic, too.

I have a large studio-type microphone boom stand that serves as my Christmas tree; it sports several decorations.

That train is the shnizzle, BTW. :dancingbacon:

We cut our Colorado blue spruce up on Mount Taylor each year at about 10,000 ft. Zero snow this year:

Yeah, I imagine you'd have a lot of needles falling off with the tree being in a warm house for that long. Those keepsake items are priceless.

I'm glad to hear your Dad is recovering well. I would love to hear what Chevy Chase has to say about lazer lights.

Hey Greg! It might be time for another round of "Pop pop, bang bang" to knock the dust of the trucks after the holidays.

Nice tree! I have found a few good stands of spruce in the Jemez, but the elevation just doesn't get high enough on average to find many good ones. I was thinking of changing things up this year and checking out the Pecos or Mt. Taylor. If you are inclined, I would be thankful for any tips on good tree cutting areas on Mt. Taylor.

That is usually where we go, north off 126. I imagine it will be hard to get away from folks this year with no snow on the ground. Usually the second or third big hill stops most people when there is a foot or better down.

I was also thinking of checking out 31 Mile Rd / FR565 out of Espanola.

I'm always up for some lead-slinging! I have way too much ammo. I could take a day off early next year if that works; I think I have to work through the holidays this year.

I have a 10/22 that would work well for anyone who wants to show their kids shooting, as well, although that might be best in a very small group or just 2 adults, maybe. Have a pellet rifle, too, that's reasonably accurate; pretty fun to shoot balloons with.

Nick, if you go north out of Grants on CR 547 to FR 453 heading toward the La Mosca fire lookout, there is a spur running north into Section 18 on the Cibola NF, Mt Taylor District map. You can pick a map up on the way up M-F at the district office on CR 547. If you have a GPS, head toward UTM 262431/390521. The spur road is rough enough to keep most out.

Yes, definitely. We need to get Tom on board as well. My daughter would love plinking with the 10/22. I got an email from Omni Arms today and they had a kids .22 rifle on sale that I was thinking about picking up for her. I have a decent pellet rifle as well, but never thought of balloons. That's a great idea and would be encouraging for a kiddo because it's easy to hit and produces visible feedback.

Thank you for the tip. I have been up to La Mosca a few times, but the summit was always my goal so I never paid attention to any of the side roads. I have a few maps for the area and will check them out for more details. Thanks again!

There are a lot to choose from, and for 10 bucks you can't go wrong. Probably got some snow today. The Sandias were dusted.

    Wait. Wut?

Holy shit. I need to get my head out of my turtle shell... (Hey Pigger!)

I'll catch up on the thread tonight. Been looking to go out and the girl I'm seeing now would love to go shooting.

I spent some time looking at maps and I think I've got a good idea where to start. It looks like I'll have to head over to the office on Osuna to get a permit since we'll be heading out there on a sat. It was definitely cool to see some white on the mountains the otheryesterday, even though it lasted <24 hours.

UNMH isn't a perfect hospital, but they treated me very well. I think they do a very good job considering the age of most of their facilities.

We had the same kind of snow in NE ABQ yesterday, just sparse big flakes coming down.

The plan is to head out next Sat 12/16 and it looks like we'll be doing Taylor. Since there is no snow in Jemez I imagine it will be much busier than normal, and it will be cool to try something new. Maybe we can link up.

This was 12/11 last year on FR 144 in Jemez... not feet on the ground, but also no soil showing.
