Other than the leaking breather vent, the trip has gone well so far. Alstrom Point is an awesome campsite. About 5,000 feet in elevation. Probably a 1,500 foot cliff into lake Powell below, 15 yards from where I'm typing this. I didn't get here until it was nearly dark so I'm excited to see how it looks in the morning.

    A few bad phone pictures.

Yeah it will be. Got to watch the moon rise up over the cliffs on the other side of the lake just a little while ago, that itself was pretty cool.

This is one of the few campsites I've been to where you have signal, let alone full strength 4G.

It felt so good to drive my 4Runner today.

I spent the last week in Kauai driving 7 women around in a big ass Suburban. It was a PITA driving in tight places like the parking space for the condos we rented.
I saw so many Tacos and 4Runners while we were there, most of them were completely stock though. I guess only the big island and Oahu guys like to mod them.

Nice, I thought Alstrom was one of the best views/places I have ever been. So unique and other worldly.

X2, Alstrom was good for that, but Grand Bench was better. We're getting one in the lake next time.

    Been good!

I ran the Kokopelli in October, which was the first time since you and I did it in 2014. Was a lot of fun going back.

Yeah. Nothing like the views we have in Alabama of pine trees and murky water.

It's an amazing place. It was so silent last night it was kinda weird. Not even the wind was making noise.

Your trip report is actually where I first saw this place. You guys made it in by sunset though it looks like. I was about 15 minutes too late for the sunset.

Anyone know of any good places to camp within maybe 2-3ish hours of LAX?

I was planning to avoid LA on this trip, but my girlfriend's flight to Vegas just got cancelled and they told her she could sit at the airport and fly out 24 hours later. So she said screw that and she's flying into LAX in the morning with a different airline and only waiting at the airport for 13 hours... Commercial air travel sucks.

Thanks man. I guess I'll be coming in from the East side, but I'd be willing to go north or south of the city also. I'll check out rowher flats.

Not looking forward to the traffic there in the morning...
