comparing those prices you have in your excel and the invoice pricing in the master list, some are above/even/slightly below oem invoice pricing.

Ok....Out of 6 items, the only one higher than the invoice pricing is the bed mat. 5 out of 6 on my list are lower than invoice. Even the bed mat invoice is 25% less than MSRP. Also, most dealers roll the cost of those parts into the tax of buying the truck. Buying online also saves on sales tax.

So back to my original point, don't pay MSRP for OEM parts when you can get them for 30-50% less than the OP listed them out as.

I wasn't trying to knock your post, it was more interesting on how some are above/even/below invoice pricing. it all depends on how much you want to save doing it yourself or just having the factory or PIO things installed before hand.

and I never pay msrp for options when ordering, invoice or I add it myself afterwards.

I understand, and I actually don't want most of those options, but I couldn't find a dealer to 'order' me a truck without those because that is how most of them are allocated at the moment (in the Northeast anyway). The total price is still cheaper WITH those options than I was getting quoted for trucks w/o the options at every other dealer near me, so it is what it is.

Well, I can now add the Premium Package to a hypothetical Tacoma OR DCSB build on Toyota's web site. Couldn't do that in the last few weeks - at least in my region (SoCal) - so that's progress. But still can't add the Technology option. Says it can't be added with the leather? Dafuq? Maybe that will be added soon.

Edit: Toyota's site says I can have the Premium package OR the Technology package...but not both. Weird.

I have my truck ordered but it seems to be taking a while for the factory to "accept" my order request from the dealer. Maybe because they haven't gotten around to building a similar batch of trucks like the one I ordered? I've never "ordered" a vehicle before.

Picked mine up yesterday. Gonna have to retract my statement on the seat pattern. It’s not nearly as bad as I thought. Same goes for the grille. Lesson learned: don’t talk shit based on pictures alone. The grille is for sure an insect/ bird nightmare though. Have never routinely pressure washed behind the grille but it’s mandatory with these ones.

So basically thousands more just for the premium and tech. That’s gnarly. The bed lights and remote lock are nominal add ons.

You are paying too much. I have a quote for $37,488. Same config as your cement but silver instead.

Correct. Lower end packages are certainly a better value. Just like bikes, boats or any number of things. After a certain point, a lot more money gets a product only slightly better. That's why I'm adding mud flaps, sliders, window tints, etc, afterwards so I could put the money saved into a better interior setup. Just a matter of what it's worth to you.

If I were placing an order for a 2018, should I expect to get close to invoice? The dealer/salesman took $1,000 off the "As Built" price...which to me, is practically not having to pay Dest. charges. I wasn't sure how much more I should haggle with it being an order. Appreciate any help fellas.

My local dealers (4 of them) wouldn't go less than $1k under MSRP, a dealer 2hrs away was stuck at $1k over invoice. And then I found one 3hrs away that was under invoice on the first price they gave me and ended up ordering a truck through them (all via email/phone, I expect to make 1 trip to pick up the truck). Even after telling my local dealers they wouldn't come down in price. So, you may have to shop around if you want a better deal.

Yes. My local dealers were actually at 1k under MSRP for a 2017 in November when I started looking to order an '18.. they wouldn't even entertain ordering me a 2018 at that time so I moved on.
