It's the 3rd year in a row that Bama has lost a coordinator going into the playoffs

Yea I had forgotten about Smart, but at least he stayed through playoffs. Last year's Kiffin debacle has my memory completely effed!

Looks like Ut just hired Pruitt as their next HC.

I do not think it was a good hire imo.

Time will tell... I think he'll do well there. He's a good coach and a great recruiter.

He's sticking with Alabama through the playoff run, however long it goes.

I hope we get Kevin Steele or Mel Tucker to replace him, but I don't have much say!

LOL, had you not considered that yet?

I doubt it happens, but would be an interesting move. Probably get the same or a little better money, and that Saban on the already impressive resume cant hurt for future HC jobs, right? (Not saying Dabo can't produce the same cache....just hasnt yet, I dont think...)

Venables to Bama as DC now, Dabo as HC when Saban becomes the AD?

HAHA I was just in the middle of a post to @JimBeam about what the Clemson fan base thinks about the Dabo to Bama talks/rumors? Obviously, not trying to start a pissing contest or anything but that is definitely a rumor around these part when Saban leaves that Dabo is basically coach in waiting. Does that rumor hold any clout up there?

I dont think it does. Dabo has said a few times that he is really happy at Clemson, and has rebuilt the program. That is all his doing. Something he is proud of and he feels "at home" there.

I actually think Dabo would turn down Bama. Specifically right now, or within the next 3 years, barring a massive administrative change in which Dabo doesnt get along with the AD or something.

While, "When Mama calls" is a strong pull, I think Dabo's success at Clemson is a tad stronger.

    I'd have to agree

General consensus is that he'd be a fool to follow Saban...he'll never meet bammers expectations

Also never forget that Kevin Steele allowed Clemson to get embarrassed by WVU in the orange bowl 70-33

    I did forget that.

I'll back out of recommending new DCs... I'll leave that to the expert.

I'm kinda with both of you on this. What he has established at Clemson is all on him. He has created a "Saban-like" empire up there so why leave a good thing? But, as @Roll Tide mentioned with the whole "When mama calls" has seemed to draw other coaches to other locations. In my opinion, Dabo would be a home run hire after Saban, but they are 2 totally different coaching mentalities. I don't know how Dabo, "the players' coach", would follow the stern iron fist coach that Saban is. It will be interesting to see what the next 3-5 years hold for college football.

I've just heard/read that Pruitt brings a lot of negative baggage with him to any programs he joins.

You just need to keep your hands off of Mel Tucker!!! Mel needs to stay where he is at!

Yea. Everyone needs to lose Mel Tucker’s phone number.

Looks like the Haslem family pushed to hire Mel Tucker instead of Pruitt but Fulmer went with Pruitt instead.

I hate to lose Sherrer also. Isn’t he the one that’s so hot on the recruiting trail?

And you Bammers, don’t even think about Kirby although I don’t think he’s going anywhere.

We’re losing our OLB coach to Pruitt at UT.
