The Pinch weld has a few write ups on here that I followed. Just go slow and work your way up and down continuously on the pinch weld and don't focus on just one part of it or you risk getting a crack in the weld. The bottom half is a bitch so it'll need quite a few good hits to get it to bend. I hit mine toward the center of the truck cause it just seemed easier. Once i was happy with how flat it was, took a putty knife and some RTV silicone and smeared the entire length making sure I got underneath the fold if I could and then going over the top of that onto the top of the pinch weld. Then let that dry and from there, get some bed liner and spray over that. You can't even tell it was there after your done. I was scared doing it too cause I obviously didn't want to fuck my shit up and spring a leak during the rainy months driving. But its nice now that its one less thing that is taking tread chunks out of my tire.

This also works. I ran mine without plates for a bit, but at the same time depending on how much you cut can affect the integrity of that mount. So say if you got in an accident involving the front half of your truck, that part of the frame is susceptible to failing rather than if it was plated properly.

If you want to clear 35's I wouldn't cut less than this. I do a few cmc's a week and redo a few cmc's a month that weren't cut enough.

This pic shows a cmc I re did and how much more is cut compared to a traditional cmc.

    IMG_8418.jpg

    Here's the plates I use

    Completed cmc

    IMG_8006.jpg

Taking the end of the mount off not only gets rid of the part of the mount that rubs most often but it also allows you to get the cab mount cut back far enough that it's now behind the firewall. If you're rubbing a cab mount cut this way you're also rubbing the firewall and would require tubbing it to gain more clearance. The only way to get more cab mount clearance than this would be to relocate the mount all together

I chopped mine myself and didn’t bother putting a plate back on. I plan on keeping the truck so the look don’t matter all that matters is I no longer rub

Yeah, most of us still want to have practical trucks. Not drop bracket lifts. Is that a body lift too?

I like your style, I too have chopped a lot. Mine is 1st gen, rear, to clear links, and has nothing to do with this thread, but aint nobody got time for big bulky cab mounts

The 1st gen rear cab mounts are definitely probably when it comes to linking first gens. Looks good though.
