SO, I feel like this is a topic that should have had many threads about this, but the search both on TacomaWorld and Google yielded me no good results.

What's the verdict on best lens and how to properly aim ditch lights (A-pillar) lights? I have a new set of Squadron Pros and I am just curious how others are mounting them up.

I am familiar with 2 schools of thought:
    1. aimed angled out, with a wide angle/cornering lens. Not for distance, but to improve how WIDE you can see.
    2. aimed straight ahead, with a spot lens. More for distance than near field.

I have squadron pros with the driving combo lens in my fogs and if i were to have the ditch lights on the a pillar i would angle them out some because the pros just throw so much damn light out the front i dont need anymore there.

From my knowledge they were intended to be Angled out and down to light up around your wheels to see any ditches. Nobody really uses them for that because they look cooler aimed forward and more functional forward for 9% of people

Mine are adjustable, I'd assume most are...? I aim them forward unless I'm going to want ditch lighting, then I adjust them out and down.

    Maybe I am just having a slow day...but I can't believe I didn't think of that.

All things considered though, I do somewhat agree with what @17tacotrdor said and can also see how the "straight ahead" light is more useful for 99% of people.

My biggest hesitation is that I think the lights look "dorky" when they are pointed out at a 30* angle or whatever, even if the function is better that way.

Let’s be honest. 99% or Tacoma owners buy lights for looks anyway. So aim how they look best.

I agree. It would look pretty dumb out and down.

Your should point them at 90 degrees out so when someone pisses you off you can drive beside them and piss them off.

    ...too much shit to list.
And piss off the poor bastard on the other side of your truck who didn't do anything wrong.

Ditch lights are meant for ditches. Doesn't stop people from posing through.

Point them straight ahead into the back window/side mirror of the person who just cut you off...that's more like it!

    Most ditch lights are adjustable.
Depending on the need, I would adjust them.

My ditch lights are currently my only source of off road lighting. I went with KC Flex Quads for the combo of flood and spot. They should allow me to aim the spots forward and floods angled out.

I have them facing forward, but also angled to minimize hood shine and to maximize the sides to be better illuminated.

If you get the caliraised side projecting lights you can angle them kind of however and have them work in all situations. I have mine slightly angled out and down but mostly straight:

Slightly out flood lights, works for forward and lighting up eyes on the sides of the road also. 6C469CF8-B0FF-45C8-AF8C-5106FD8BEC22.jpg

And that's how people get shot and/or killed. People have harmed/killed others for far less.
