This is what it looks like. It shifts fine with the stock shifter from the other transmission. It's because there's no more metal on metal contact that was occurring while the short shifter that was improperly installed was on the transmission.

From the looks of that, he may have not pushed the clamshell up far enough on the original shifter

What is the clamshell you're referring to?

Push those down as far as possible into the part that holds the bushing

Thanks - yep I looked on the install instructions online from URD and that was my suspicion when giving it a quick look that night. I'm thinking I'll keep the short shifter, but I'd like to cut down the length of the shifter to keep the stock height with the short shifter installed. I feel like I'm driving a bus otherwise.

Why you tag me? I don't have a short shifter, although I've changed bushings plenty.

OP said he couldn't get to the bushing seat and I know you've got some tricks.

Yes, it is I, the OP...

Indeed, I put on the URD SS and also a Marlin Crawler white seat. I couldn't get the retaining cap to catch the pins and turn clockwise to lock in. I put the original seat back in and it all worked no problem. I'd like to use the MC seat - any ideas on what I am doing wrong
