I just had mine out and that side to side seems like the red flag to me... heads up they are a bitch to pop back in

How are your CV axle seals? I just replaced both of mine when I was swapping diffs with @Jcyr . They seemed to have some play in them, but definitely not outwards.

No in and out play, just up/down and side to side (while perpendicular to the cv axles). Leaking is an obvious seal failure, but I just want to make sure that that’s normal so my upcoming seal change isn’t in vein

Nelson racing engines have them too. Not sure if theyre too big but dang it’s a pretty penny you’re spending. Looks amazing but it’ll be hidden under the truck

I’m pretty sure a small amount of play is normal. Especially if you have the OEM needle bearing on the drivers side still. Perhaps others can chime in as well

If you look at the very end of that video, they post the CFM differences between the pre extrusion and post extrusion.

    That'll tell ya

Yeah they were some pretty big differences I think (assuming CFM is linear and im not dumb lol)
I wonder how much it would cost? Probably alot I would think since the 5vz mani is a 3 piece deal

Look locally for anyone who does AFM, or Abrasive flow machining. I believe the mustang manifold is at minimum 2 pieces

From everything I am reading about it, it is more of a deburring process for stock parts. So if there are casting marks, or rough walls, it will smooth and polish those

I’m guessing unless you’re well into like 20lbs of boost the cfm difference is not a limiting factor for the hp

less about psi and more about the CFM the motor is intaking

I understand but im making the point the CFM difference wouldn’t really be affecting hp unless you’re craming a ton of boost in there because then your maximizing the flow efficiency/potential

Hm would there be a boost drop with a smoother flowing manifold?

Physics is physics regardless of application.

A boost in CFM is a relief of the parasitic loss associated with inhaling the air, thus affecting the VE.

On a supercharged system yes. On a turbo charge system no.

Yeah boost pressure would be inversely proportional to the CFM.
Yeah physics is physics but you can’t apply basic static physics to something that has multiple dynamic factors at play.
I know less about turbos than most but physics is part of my career and CFM in almost every application is a wasted number because in every application besides dust collection there are other limitations that need to be considered to truly determine what CFM improvement A equals in total return.
Decreasing restrictions will undoubtedly increase HP but not in an apples to apples equation like boost. Unless you’re air flow capacity due to low CFM is your current limiting factor of your pre combustion system increasing it is only going to net a small improvement. when considering the scale of CFM being discussed and how it actually works in the system described the benefits would likely be negligible until you’re forcing a high volume of air in there. i.e. if your turbos efficiencies lie between 5-15 psi you will see some benifit near its limit because it can move enough air to actually benefit fron the improved flow rate. But if you have a turbo that moves alot of air and its efficiency can now be maximized because of the reduced restriction of the intake now your talking.

I bet the upper part of the 1gr manifold flows pretty well since its injection molded right? usually that leaves really smooth walls on things.
