Super shitty video. Wasn't really planning my shots to be made in to a video, just wanted to document a bit of my trip to North Carolina. Only got to take the drone out a couple times. Was too scared to fly it far at the mountain.

I just got a Spark but can't figure out how to capture video yet. I mean, I push the video record button on the left and fly, but no video when I get home. Yesterday I didn't have an SD card but I found the video on my phone, but it was corrupted. Today I had a 4GB card in that I had lying around, recorded the entire flight, and when I got home no video on the phone or the card. :notsure:
I guess I'll buy a bigger card and try again.

Make sure you format the card each time before you fly. You can format it directly from the DJI GO app. I've never played around with the Spark but every time I flew the Inspire 1 or the Mavic I always formatted the card before flying. Also make sure you are running the latest firmware on the drone.

Thanks, yeah, I did update the firmware. I have a new 64GB card coming. Maybe the old one was just too old or something. I'll try formatting it too, although I never format the cards on my video camera and they've always just worked.

I'm not sure about the Spark but the Mavic and Inspire can only use up to a 64GB card so don't try to use one larger than that. You'll also need a class 10 card or the fastest card you can buy if you plan on recording in 4k (or even 2.7k). Slower cards won't give you the results you want.

The Spark only shoots 1080p, but the videos I've seen look pretty good at that. I found a site that reviewed the best cards for the Spark and went with one of those, so it should be good. Problem now is getting out there again this year. Snow in the forecast for tomorrow, and temps mostly below freezing for the foreseeable future. Damn you Black Friday for not being in the spring!!

Ah... Wasn't aware that it only recorded in 1080p. The Spark came out after the Mavic and apparently I didn't pay attention. Yeah, 1080p will look just fine.

I was at my local Costco today and noticed they have a display selling the Mavic Pro. It's hitting mainstream.

When you say "format the card" how do you do this? Is it the "clear video cache" option? I was looking for a format option but didn't see one other than the clear cache.

I know on the Inspire and Mavic there is an option in the app that recommends that you format your card after you download your footage from previous flights. It's in the settings menu somewhere. You can also format off your pc if you like. In the app it should have a little slider asking if you would like to format the card. Just slide the slider to the right and it will format it for you. It will clear out any old files fragments that might not have transferred or got deleted from previous flights.

Hmm I'll have to try searching again. I was out in the desert this weekend and remember you saying something about formatting the card but didn't see a format slider. I'll look in to it some more, all I found was clear cache

Wife just bought me a Mavic Pro Fly More Combo...pretty stoked. Now I’ve got to figure it all out and try not to break too much shit.

Sweet! These things fly themselves! But it can be daunting at first. I finally flew mine about a mile and a half away while out camping a few weeks back. It's awesome.
You have the mavic? How the fuck you get it to land on your hand? I can't figure it out. Also too scarred to do that and have the props chop my hand apart lol

Just came in the house from a backyard beginner flight...and I'm even wearing my NASA tank top. Watched too many videos until I just said fuck it and took it outside after the endless firmware updates were done. I weaved it (slowly) in and out of the tress in the backyard while dodging the dogs attempts of snatching it out of the air. Pretty easy for sure! I'll just get my practice in to get used to the controls before I start worrying about all the other fancy crap it'll do.

For sure...I kept it about under 15' for the most part and in Beginner Mode. I'll slowly venture out a bit. I'll be looking forward to your videos of you launching and landing from the PA.

I was so scarred flying it that far for the first time haha. And then I realized that it's not that bad and so fucking cool to be able to scout areas out from that far. Will definitely be using it again for recon purposes
