they don't do that on the freeways here in L.A. You know how hard it is to hear lights and sirens when your on the freeway? Usually not until it's besides you.

You don't have to be worried. You have to be ready. You have to expect the unexpected. That's what I think. It could turn in sh*t in seconds and I wouldn't want to be the guy that wasn't ready to make the decisions.
Cops always stand behind cops, thats why there is Internal Affairs. How does a cop get caught speeding in a completely different state and get out of the ticket?

The same way I watched a drunk chick get stopped driving her car and the cop just made her call someone to come pick her up....Everyone catches breaks.

Maybe I will get a suspension for saying this, but I am FUCKING sick of sport bike riders. They all think they are talented. When they aren't. My wife lost her cousin who thought he was cool and pulled a wheelie and it ended bad, FOR EVERYBODY!! That little prick taped himself crossing 2 lanes of busy road to pull a wheelie. WTF is wrong with him. I watch these pricks pull wheelies down my road ALL summer because we have s-curves at the end and a long open straight after. I live on a 35mph RESIDENTIAL street!!! I am not taking the cops side, but that guy should be charged with something for the video evidence of his immaturity, irresponsibility and his stupidity. What law we got for that?
It's funny-Cause I'm sick of judgmental jerks who think "all" of any group of people at one way or another. Cause guess what- You are WRONG.

I am a sportbike rider- I've been pulled over once on my bike in 5 years of riding and don't stunt to race on public roads. I've got three tracks I can take my bike to for weekends.
I do agree with you- He needs to be punished for his reckless riding...but that's not every sportbike rider. HOw about harley riders...cause I've seen plenty of those dudes ride drunk.

First, for the moron who said cops suck...."shut up". Everyone hates us until they need us. Second, next to a domestic violence situation, a traffic stop is the most dangerous position a police officer can be in. You have no idea if the motorist is armed or what his intent maybe. The officer may have had a valid reason for being alarmed. Perhaps there was a BOLO (Be on Look Out) or maybe they had recieved an alert that this man was dangerous. DON"T JUDGE BECAUSE YOU DONT KNOW!!! I pulled my weapon on many traffic stops. Better to be judged by 12 then carried by 6. There was a young cop, not 45 miles from here, killed two days ago, while approaching a vehicle in a traffic stop. Get over yourself.

At the same time what if you are in a state that can open carry or CC. I carry my pistol on me 24/7, and especially when im riding. And i can tell you that if i had some random car cut me off like that and then a man in "regular clothes" gets out holding a pistol, im drawing mine out before he can open his damn mouth. He displayed no badge and there wasn't even any damn lights on. And please do not try and explain yourself as a cop about dangerous situations, sounds like your whining about your job. Your career choice, you chose it. That would be like me complaining about getting deployed to Iraq/Afghan when i signed the dotted line.
As a fellow sportbike rider, I have to admit this guy was a jackass on the road, and the cop did stop him probably in the safest way possible favoring the rider, but the cop should have displayed his badge vice the pistol. He already trapped the rider, and would have the cop really shot the rider if he would have ran, i don't think the cause was there to justify a shooting. Poor choice of the cop.

do you think the cop was wrong for not showing his badge?prob not cuz your a cop its not all cops just 99% abuse their power and write tickets for the same shit they do.
WELL PUT TEXASTOYO!!!!!if some dude jumped in front of me with a gun,his sorry ass would be dragged down the fucking freeway and he would be carried by "6" and burried 6 ft under.all cops want trophys for what they do.its your fucking job.cops by me in jersey are making $100,000 a year.dont cry its a hard and dangerous job.that is what you get paid to do.i dont have a problem with cops,i have problems with cops who think they are above the law and feel they can do what ever they want.i wont even hang out with my cop friends anymore.they are out of their fukn minds and i dont want to be a part of their shit when it finally hits the fan.most of the ones i know are drunking assholes who drink and drive, blow red lights at full speed without even slowing down.most of their own cars are tinted big time and yet they will bang out those tint tickets.hell even the passiac county police cars are tinted with 5% tint.HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU PULL ME OVER FOT TINT WHEN YOUR FUCKING POLICE CAR IS TINTED?????

back to the dummy on the bike. if your going to do anything illegal.. DO NOT RECORD IT!!!!..I REPEAT DO NOT RECORD IT!!!!!!!
Someone said they hate sportbike riders, their are just as many assholes riding over powered shopping carts for harleys.who love to bar hop, get wasted, ride like jerk offs, and live that gay harley lifestyle.thats a whole other thread rant

I agree.

It didnt' seem like he was speeding any more than a car would in the left lane. I do believe that the wheelie is most likely what got him in trouble.

When he looks back (and while he is stopped at the light) the state trooper doesn't have his lights on, so the rationale that he knew he was being pulled over doesn't hold weight (IMHO, of course). It's just a random car pulling in front of him with a guy pulling a gun.

You have to put yourself in his place for a moment.

BTW - I am embarrassed that these threads always turn into "f the cops"...it's a shame that we can't have a mature discussion without that kind of stuff. If you're not a cop, you don't know what it's like.

That's what I was thinking. The motorcycle dude might have been packing and blasted the cop before he knew he was a cop, then it would have really been a shit storm. I'm not anti-cop or anti-law, but I am for some degree of equitable enforcement of the law. I just saw it yesterday, a cop on a highway here speeding without lights or sirens, clearly just speeding, I was following behind him the entire way for about 6-7 miles, then a car that creeps up on him speeding the same, then the cop turns on his lights and pulls the dude over. WHAT? Equal treatment under the law, nah!

Handled appropriately? You've got to be kiddin me! :brianr: I didn't see any canyons nor did I see any drifting. I'm sure you're aware of what those bikes are capable of, he wasn't even close to open throttle. Even if he was, it sure as hell aint no reason to pull a gun. This cop needs to be suspended at the least. Irrevocable mistakes can happen when some idiot thinks it's ok to pull a gun when he sees someone speeding. Talk about being excessive.

The vidoe isn't complete so we dont know the the biker was doing but the cop does. Do you really think he had a camera on just to cruise around? Give me a flipin break..... The cop was in an unmarked car out of uniform, do you really think the biker would have just sat there if the officer didn't have a gun? Please!!!!! If I was the cop I would have kicked his dam bike over.

Wrong!

You don't just pull a gun on anyone without identifying yourself as an officer unless your life as an officer or others is in danger!

WTF was the cop thinking?

And we all wonder why the blacks riot all the time when this shit happens?

"ricer" does not include the VW community. If you are going to add insult to certain vehicle cultures, at least get your facts correct. Just because a vehicle that is not from USA has modifications does not classify it as a "ricer".
Here is your first class:
VW=German ........ "ricer" = hondas, toyotas, nissans..etc

I ride. I'll admit to aggressive riding, never wheelies though (bike's too slow). Dad is a state officer. I carry.

I would be scared shitless if this happened and might not draw immediately. A tinted out, unmarked, non-traditional police vehicle (never seen a Malibu in service) with an unidentified man in civvies? I would at least back up on the bike. Who knows if someone wants your toy more than you? Or has road rage and wants to kill you for your stunt?

My question is:
Did this reckless and daring rider just show-boat at the wrong time, in front of an off-duty officer in his personal vehicle? He could have called the station to dispatch the nearest marked vehicle and continued pursuit whilst waiting for backup.

2 things:
1) Cop should have observed camera immediately and identified himself or reminded him of the (stupid) law and have him turn it off immediately. A properly-trained state officer would know to do so.
2) Biker needs to watch what he is doing. I always look before I leap: i.e. scan for Crown Vics or any non-descript American-made vehicle before I crack the throttle to make some wild pass.

When you drive a POS car like it’s an F1 race car, puts wheels on it that is worth more then the car itself, or has an exhaust that sounds like its breaking sound barrier at take off makes you a ricer... I don't care who made it....

Really rice is only for Asian imports? haha... VW should be put in its own category only because it looks like shit. But to each his own I guess…. I would not be caught dead driving a VW aside from some of the old classics.
