For just the bed, probably. I’m not 100% sure on any pricing yet, the goal is to be far below norweld which is just ridiculous imo

So a full tilt Norweld including installation taxes and fees is upwards of 25k

Just the Flat bed alone is 11k.

    Hmmm

Well I have decided to stretch the flatbed, but only out to 7 feet. That way sheet rock, ply wood, sheets of diamond plate, and 2x4s can still be hauled without much worry. Also gives me plenty of room for extra activities inside the camper setup. So the size will be ~75 inches wide x 84 inches long. 1/8 diamond plate deck, 2x2 heavy guage rails on the sides, 1 inch square tube stringers underneath. Will sit on 3 inch channel with open parts facing inwards, with vertical pieces ran down to side of truck frame and will use pre existing bolt holes in frame. 3 inch pipe bent to outline of cab, 16 inch kickboard up front, with a 2 inch pipe ran across the top just below rear window. 4 vertical 1 inch square tube runners between roll bar and kick plate bar. During the build I will take some pictures, and I will right down all piece sizes that way I can cut kits out if anyone wants one in the future. I get asked locally all the time to biuld em. I can get them sand blasted and powder coated about two hours away. Also found a company that makes custom drawer systems, gonna see if I can sneak it in the back (giggity) above the winch.

Last i checked it was 6-8k for the bed alone and 16-18k for the package. That’s pretty insane at 25k, wouldn’t even consider it at that price.

I know your pricing for your current bed was super fair as a used bed. I am sure that your production pricing will completely blow Norweld out of the water.

Never got around to making the flip down sides and tailgate. IIRC it had a 9’ bed from the headache rack to the edge of the rear deck. The biggest issues are weight when building one. .125” deck plate is not light by any means and then comes the frame / bracing. Not sure if you are keeping track of load capacity or if you just load it until the springs break but you can eat up 100% of your load capacity with a FB with out even trying.

If I were to build a Tacoma FB it would be aluminum. If I needed to haul anything that may damage the deck there is always plywood to place them on. Your 75x84” deck is 223lbs for steel deck plate alone. 2”sq x .250 is 2.7lbs / ft. 1”sq seems a little light for bracing considering the deck plate above.

My FB carried an easy 2000lbs without any dents or dings so unless you are carrying that kind of weight maybe a lighter deck plate is a possibility.

Man to be honest I just wanted a stout flat bed so I bought stout materials and started welding, your weights however are pretty damn close, as I would guess my current bed is around 350-400 lbs.I could probably get away with 1/16 decking to be honest. But it handles great off road in the desert at speed, so I am not gonna complain about weight other than climbing hills on the highway. They make those aluminum flatbeds with fold down sides, but that's just the problem. It's all aluminium. Even the hinges for the fold down gates are aluminum. Every one knows aluminum is soft it will rattle against itself and deform after a while. I just dont see em coming in a kit and being that durable in the long run. I could be wrong. I have found no reviews of them other than "it fit our company truck great. Very shiny. 5 stars." LOL. Do you deliver pillows or bricks, come on.
