Fog Light Question

Out of all the mods I have done the fog lights are proving to be the biggest pain.

I purchased the below. Why in the hell do they not work? Is it the wattage? I'm a moron when it comes to lighting so I saw H16 the necessary light for the SR5 and ran with it, I plug em in and nothing.

Can someone link me to an affordable LED fog bulb that will work in my 17 SR5.

 

If the stock fog lights work then you may have a couple of defective bulbs. Is it possible to plug them in reversed? Rotate the connector 180 then try plugging them in again. Led's only work in one direction.

 

They only connect one way truly, they won't clip in solidly if they're not the right direction.

I'm reading now on some 4runner forums now that the new style of H16's are actually not what run in the third gens. That you need to put the H11's in?! Any idea? I've tried two different sets of the H16's from two different brands and neither work.

 

Check around page 578 of your manual... it will tell you what bulbs are stock on yer truck...!! Replace with same type..!!

I need normal H16's. 19 Watt? What is the LED equivalent of a 19 watt halogen?

 

You are very welcome...!! It's page 578 in my Sport manual, so that's why I said to look in that general area...
Anywhoooo, I'd suggest that LED's are no freakin' good as fogs anyway.....they do not throw a nice beam.... they spray light...

You will not like them, I'm sure.... On-coming vehicles may not like them either........Good luck my friend..

 

hell you're probably right. short fuse on this issue at the moment. appreciate the thoughts.

 

if you want LED fog lights. You might be better off getting some that have there own dedicated housing. Kinda like the TRD Pro has.

 

Like someone said earlier you need to reverse the plug. Sometimes it doesn't clip in like the OEM ones because the aftermarket manufacturer made theirs with reversed polarities. My high beam leds are like that, at least try it out and you'll see if that's the real case. It won't break anything so worth a try.

I got them in both cars and the beam is nice and wide and they are designed to not blind oncoming traffic:

i've used H11s in my fogs and they work great. the same bulb as the low beams.

 

I did the same thing and they ended up shorting out my wiring harness after a couple months. I put the original factory bulbs back in and luckily the dealership replaced the wiring free. But the tech could tell what I did and warned me not to use H11 bulbs because of the different wattage. FYI...

 

That's because you have 19 watt fogs. I run 60w h11's, because my stock fogs are 55w

 

What do you mean by shorted out the wiring? The fogs have a fuse and that would fail before the wiring could get damaged. Did you melt the connectors on the bulbs?
