New tent day. TarpTent Notch. It’s definitely a bit skinny inside but it has LOTS of headroom.

I’m a big guy and 6’3” and I will be fine in it. I think having the sleeping pad in it will ensure the floor stays spaced out.

Also, that’s a pretty good pitch for my first time in slightly windy conditions if I do say so myself.

My SMD Lunar Solo came today as well if anyone is interested before I return it. It is not seam sealed but I did buy Sil-Net to do it. 6 titanium hook stakes and Tyvek ground sheet included. I’ll ship it to you for $175, which is a little less than what it would cost from AGG.

Nice first pitch! That's a tight floorplan width at the head and feet, though. Did you get the seam sealing service or are you doing it yourself?

I had them do it. I wasn't sure that I would get it in time for next weekend, but my friend who bought the Moment DW had his shipped out the next day, so I went ahead and bit the bullet and mine did as well, and got it 2 days later. They must have stock on hand that are already seam sealed.

And yeah, it's pretty narrow there!

    Tent test!

That large sized pad in there takes up most of the space. I need to get something else eventually.

How do you think the low sides will handle dirt splashes in the rain? Do you think its high enough to prevent dirt/rain from getting in?

Well, the vestibules should have been lower. I accidentally set it up with the poles at 120cm instead of 115. I fixed the poles after remembering, but didn’t wanna mess with restaking everything. So, that would help a little more in that sense. But overall it should do fine in rain I believe.

I also have the Notch tarp tent. Messing with the TT I was able to set it up with the bottom edge on the ground and also as shown in @BOTHTACOS photo.

I've only used it once since getting it; lots of smoke here from July-October left me mostly house bound with respiratory problems. Fall backpacking was also eliminated because of a stress fracture in my knee. I'm counting on some early spring camping. Quite a bit further South.

Yeah, I have seen it setup that way and it looks kind of like a submarine haha.

I’m excited to use it next week at Big Bend!

Testing my ass below freezing in a hammock, in the front yard tonight. Probably be single digits.
Warbonnet Ridgerunner, HGIncubator 20 below a Thermarest base Camp.
Old 0° Snow Lion down bag as a TQ.

I have been colder on the ground, first cold try in a hammock.
I have been in the low 30s before in a hammock.

Just got in. It is only 25, no real test.
I was snug as a bug in a rug.
