19990.jpg This was before winch or bumper or snorkel or locker. Got hung up in some deep ruts. Dud with a shovel. Hooked a strap to a tree and put truck in 4 low and got out and jumped up and down on strap repeatedly about 67,000 times and it came out finally. Look at that epic diff ditch I dug. Just now noticed it

This was in a wash in Congress, AZ. Water was flowing pretty good down it. I got stuck and the front started digging, it went lower and lower so I just kept going to see how low I could get it. I stopped when my headlight touched water. It took a dodge cummins with 37 inch tire to get me out cause of the mud surrounding me. Can't really tell but back tire is about 3.5 feet off the ground

    yep..
I've been watching a lot of Ronny Dahl's videos on youtube lately, then this pops up. Awesome trucks guys. One day I'll own a 79, somehow. There's a guy in my town with a new one but I haven't been able to catch him and ask how he got it here.

You can buy direct from land rover. The have nas spec v8 engines on stand by at the factory, and they will ship it to your nearest land rover dealer. Not a defender though, they can't be sold in America due to non conforming to air bag laws. You can also have a diesel one else that is older than 25 years shipped here because DOT considers those collectors vehilces. I currently have an importer looking for a diesel 5 speed 79 series tray back......now what you see there is not a 79 4 door. It is a 79 wagon that they chop the back off, extend the frame, and put a tray on. It's a thing down there because I guess the wagon comes with a bigger engine and a much greater towing capacity. Look at the bottom corner of the rear passenger door, you can see where the rear wheel well used to be

Here’s my buddies D90 almost a full restore of a truck that came over very solid. Swapped out the rear axle for LR4’s for the disc brakes. New transmission, cut in rear seats bunch of armor. List goes on and on. Oh and it’s diesel 4 cylinder

Yeah bud I meant can't import a new defender from land rover. They can't legally sell them in USA after 1998. I would also like to import a defender HCPU. They used them as logistics support trucks during the camel trophy runs.

Stupid question. Gas hose that runs up under oem bed. Does it get re-routed at all going to canopy/flatbed conversion?

Depends how you want to do it, mine is just unbolted from the mount and pinched in-between the cab and bed. The filler is steel tube along with the vent tubes, you can cut the tubes and mount it wherever so long as its above the tank

It still needs a good drop for gravity to effect the fuel right so it won't trigger the air valve in the pump handle. But yeah you can move it around

It has a bulb seal around the door so it stays pretty clean inside.
