Ha---no idea--but the hesitating from stop sign is my only concern--rest I am used to, like the truck ( my 7th Tacoma)-with quite a few having same issue from stopping, either left turn or right, should be figuring it out. The rest is apparently trait of 2017----not good ones. Favorite one was my 2000---had it 16 yrs, great truck.

Downhill with the wind behind you? I absolutely do not believe you are averaging 23mpg with a rtt and a bed full of gear. I don’t know why everyone has to lie about getting great gas mileage. No one believes you or thinks you’re cooler for it. :jerkoff:

I really like my turd as a whole, with only a few complaints. I don’t daily it, but when I do drive it to work it’s slightly uphill most of the 45 miles, and I went up one size in tires so now the truck has to pull the hills in 4th gear at 35-3600 rpm and spends most of the time there. So, the mpg is absurd to work. Like, sometimes 12 mpg and it’s stock other than the stt pros. It idles rough in my opinion for a new truck. Took it to the dealer to have that looked at and to have the drivetrain looked at because ever since I’ve had it, it has an intermittent vibration. At 50 mph, you can’t miss it. I tried putting it in 4wd, still there. The dealer told me the rough idle was “a characteristic of this engine” and in order to look any further into the drivetrain they’d have to have it for a day and swap the wheels and tires from a stock one, but it was covered to 5 years or 60k miles lol. Other than that, it’s awesome. If I daily’d It, I would have traded it off by now because of the terrible gas mileage.

Dont. It doesn't do much, if any, better in most cases. In order to get it to drive properly you have to spend $800 on a tune and then you get anywhere from 13-16mpg.

This will be my last. Just too many WTF moments! For what I intend to do with it, it will work. I bought it to keep from screwing up the interior of my Lexus and Benz and because of the Toyota reliability. If you bought this to tow, you're seriously SOL. My Lexus pulls great, I have to look to see if it's still behind me. Pulling 4500 LBS with the Tacoma, it's piss poor! Constantly hunting for the right gear. I'm flooring it to get the FOTTW!! I've experienced the shuttering many times. The shift mapping, especially when it's cold. The first time it happened I thought someone goosed me from behind. Only the drivers door has the touch to open. One would think the front passenger side would have it as well. I understand the rears doors not having it. The hood flexes up and down. No remote start. The tailgate requires a key to lock it! The leather looks more like plastic waffle vinyl. As my daughter says it's a "Girls" pick-up! She may end up getting it for graduation. My co-worker called it an IKEA furniture getter! I had looked at the Tundra but 1980 called and wants it back! That truck needs some serious updating. No wonder the 1/2 ton buyers are going domestic. UGLY!!

I'll admit, you do have to spend the $800 on OVtune to get it to drive properly (IMO) - my truck is a V6 M/T. Your mileage statement is kinda misleading and shouldn't be assumed for the majority. I still get 18-19 mpg on my daily commute. Yeah yeah, that's according to the truck's computer, but the important take away is that there wasn't a significant hit after the tune for me. There are auto trans guys who are definitely getting more mpg than 13-16 tuned, and some who aren't. There are a lot of variables.

First Toyota, first brand new vehicle, first car payment since I have been driving 4-1990. The only thing I thought I wanted was the JBL sound system, very silly stupid rare to find in the OR DCLB Silver Sky combo, but I would have lost the storage behind one of the rear seats which I use.
8500 miles now and I don't have any soul crushing complaints that can be read on this forum so far.

2016 V6 Auto Access cab, I routinely get 18-19 mpg, that's all in town, with a 5 mile stretch of highway, but still in town, so on and off the throttle. The computer claims I am getting 20.1 on this tank, I will check it with the calculator tomorrow when I fill up!

No issues with mine, I love the thing. Much more refined than my 2nd gen. My father bought one and my brother may be getting one also, best midsize truck......period. Nothing is perfect remember that.

I consistently average just over 20 mpg on a tank with mixed driving (half highway half city). If I had to tow regularly I would have purchased a full-size truck. There are tradeoffs between the mid-size and full-size options. Any of the complaints about the engine or towing capacity should have been pretty obvious on a test-drive, especially if you compare a Tacoma (3rd Gen or 2nd Gen) against a Tundra/F-150/Sierra/Silverado/Ram.

I mean, you could say that about mid sized trucks..but the ZR2 duramax pretty much trumps that lol

Filled up today, the dash computer said I was getting 20.1 mpg, my phone calculator said 20.35, so fairly accurate.

Damn, you got me. I just wanted the internet to think I was cool but didn’t anticipate running into the Tacomworld Sheriff. My masquerade is up, and now I must retreat back into internet anonymity...

Anyway, maybe read my post again. I said I “can get 23mpg,” not that I average 23. For anyone interested, in mixed driving I’m around 18-20. I have gotten as good as 26 in a single trip, while stock, and 23 with all the weight. I probably drive more conservatively than most, keep it under 65, 93 octane, and 40psi for the highway.

i love my truck. it has its quirks but no issues. every vehicle is different. I will say, if you can not stand the power delivery on test drive, do not buy this truck. it doesnt change measurably.
