Best all terrain tire

I run the Maxx in the 255/80/17 on a FJ and I like them. They balanced well and handle long high speed runs on the freeway and slow rocky trails well. Havent had them in mud or snow yet. I will go with another set in the same size when these are worn out.

I have them on Methods and the wheel/tire combo is substantially heavier than other wheel/tire combos I have run on ifs trucks. Next time I rotate them I will weigh them.

Weight wise they feel very similar to my 37"mtrs on steelies that I run on my other rig.

 

Speaking from experience, the KO2's are great as far as traction but I had issues with them chunking. In other words, losing small pieces of rubber in random spots. I drove heavily on loose rock, gravel and dirt roads. I had load range E's, so the lower load rated KO2's might be better in this respect.

 

I've had the Falkens for a year now, very happy except for in supper slick clay mud...they loaded up pretty good (But my soil packs AG tires in the right conditions).

 

What do you hate so much about the Duratracs? Many people on here love them even with the weak sidewalls.

 

I've had the old BFG AT's, wore like iron, but CRAP in winter. The old compound froze up hard and turned into legit hockey pucks. See how the Duratracs, do this winter. So far much better on the ice than the BFGs and my bald ass Mickey Thompsons, but that wasn't their fault.

I need an alignment though, you're not wrong. It's not that bad though. It's just from going from bald ass 33's to full perky very tall 33's.

 

Balancing and wear issues. Don't get me wrong, I loved how they have performed, but its a gamble to whether or not you get whack tires from the start. I had to return 2 tires back to back from the get go to get balancing problem almost under control. I've never had to rotate and rebalance tires so many times ever. One is permafucked now and wont balance and just shakes on the rear axle vibrating the truck and the two front just wobble. I have to blast music just to ignore the noise.

Any insight as to why the left looks more worn? Almost like it’s scuffed/draggged

 

Whens the last time you had an alignment done? Also what PSI are you running?

 

My Ko2 fronts look a bit like that too, but I’m pretty sure my cause is gravel/dirt roads and siding / drifting at a moderate to higher speeds.

Same experience I had with them. Loved everything about them though. Mine would shake the damn steering wheel even after a road force balance.
