Dealer "No Lifts on 2018"

It seems like a lot of people don’t understand how a warranty works. It’s not like an Xbox or something where if you open the case a strip appears that say WARRANTY VOID!

If you lift your truck and the A/C breaks, the dealer can’t deny that claim to fix it. Aftermarket parts have to CAUSE the failure.

If indeed the Tacoma cannot be lifted, they will lose their prominence in the market. Someone will find a way, bet on it.

 

And certainly the 1" I have on my 2017. Evenutually, if it's not available already, we'll see that lifting a couple inches is within the standard error of the operation of it anyway. Even a Smart Car would be detected if a Tacoma had a 3" lift, and so would most humans, even a child.

 

I was ordering parts for my last Tacoma as I was sitting in the dealership writing out a cheque.....

I bought it with the intentions of chopping it up and modifying it, just like I've done with every 4x4 I've owned.

 

What is worse, are the idiots that come on here, and post misinformation that could make others think that modding a vehicle voids the warranty. The Magunson Moss Warranty acts provides vehicle owners from manufacturers that tried to disclaim warranties or drafted them in a misleading manner:

For purposes of modifications, like another poster said above, to carve out part of your warranty, the manufacturer/dealer would have to show that the modification was the cause of the defect. So if you put on a lift and your transmission goes out, it would be nearly impossible to prove that was the cause, even if bigger tires put more strain (as the transmission is designed to tow weight in excess of the strain of the lift/tires).

Now that isn't to say a dealer may try to throw that at you to avoid making a repair, but a little push back with some knowledge of warranty rules and regulations will prevent that.

Toyota is just recommending disabling the TSS not voiding, but I certainly wont be bending over backwards for any customer with a lifted tunrda or tacoma that complains about the pre collision.

They are already less effective than the rav4 and corolla systems at their height, adding 3" makes a bigger difference at 25 meters than that image portrays, but the system isn't that great anyways.

Plus the 16+ tacomas cruise control already sucks due to the lack of highway torque. Adding adaptive cruise does dick all when it struggles on every hill on the highway.

 

My 2016 Forester XT Touring has Eyesight and I have it on coil overs sitting 2 inches lower. No problems.

No. U.S. law does not apply in Canada. However, Canada provincial law has similar protections regarding modifications.

Well here is what I did....

Got my 2018 DCSB SR5 V6 4x4 and on that very day I took it to Goodyear and put SEMA TRD Pro (4-Runner) wheels and Goodyear Kevlar AT 255/70r17s on the truck and balanced her all up. This raised the truck a total of 0.5 inches.

Love the small height increase, love the light weight tires (39 lbs) and love the stance.

Have had / found zero issues with the TSS so far.

 

That's great. Do you have any pictures so we can see that 1/2" you added?
