Earlier this year, I cut out all of my crab/shrimp eating habits due to high cholesterol and from watching my dad suffer. I tried the vegan thing... 4 months tops before I realized I was losing my sanity! Then I went straight back to stuffing myself with bacon wrapped burgers, steak, pulled pork, and most of all, crab cakes!

Every now and then I definitely treat myself. If heart failures run on my dad’s side, so be it. There’s not much I can do about it and I do want to enjoy this life! Part of enjoying life = eating food.

Most people don’t believe I can eat like crazy. I am only 164 lbs.

That’s one of the reasons I do all the work/maintenance/repair myself. I dont trust anyone, not because I think they are stupid or so, it is because we are all humans and we make mistakes, but I rather make the mistake and learn than having someone else screw up my vehicle

 

I'm the same way...except when they say the first 30k miles of maintenance is on the house. It's hard to say no. I'm paying for that maintenance somehow after all. Rock and a hard place.

I've had a lot of less than great experiences with others working on my stuff.

 

There are exception: @Mobtown Offroad and @68dave for example!

 

I still really freakin wish the DIY garage places would become more popular, id happily throw someone $75 for access to a lift, shop air, and a roof over my head, heat in the winter would be a plus.

 

I have a garage, a jack, some stands, and a heater. No air yet. Garage is too short for a lift.

 

You should paint the wheels.

 

Don’t feel bad, I work there and the broke off one of the skid bolts inside of the bolt hole and didn’t say anything just handed me my skid plate..... it was a new guy that obviously is not employed there any longer. Had to get it drilled and tapped!

 

That's the reason i would help fellow TW members wrench on their trucks after hours & weekends at my work because we had lifts, air, tools & heat (fully equipped commercial shop). That is until my boss started acting weird about it because i think he thought i was using his shop to make side money. But the member's i was able to help out know i didn't take a dime. A pic of 2 members that i helped at my work with lift installs. My new garage here at my house doesn't have electricity yet (my cabin purchase slowed down my progress on the garage) but i was hoping, after my garage was properly equipped, to host "wrench days" here at my house.

 

Did they drill and tap it or did you have to drill and tap it? If they tell me to go pound sand I'll be pretty upset. Last time I cross threaded something was 2010. Last time I broke a bolt was this summer....in the aluminum head of a Yamaha outboard. That was fun.

That place stopped being a self service place a few years ago

 

Which fastener did they strip out?

 

If it is one of the formed brackets in the front they can order and replace those.

 

Put the @Mobtown Offroad skids on. Then all they have to do is drop the access panel. They would have one heck of a time removing a Mobtown front skid plate for an oil change.
