Longest lasting, quietest tire

If money were no object, which tire would you pick for replacement of the BFGs that come stock on an '02 TRD X-Cab 4x4? 265/70R16.

I'm looking for quietest, longest lasting. I don't want to buy tires again for quite a while. 80% on road.

 

im gonna toyo open country a/t, bridgestone dueler a/t revo, or michelin ltx m/s.......all great tires imo. damn near anything is gonna be better than those "rugged fails"!!

 

Money is no object? A set of MTRs.

Mostly Street Use... the Longest/quietest tire = Michelin LTX M/S hands down

If you want an All Terrain, Id say Toyo Open Country AT, Nitto Terra Grappler are toss up or BFG All Terrain (long lasting but not as quiet & more expensive)

 

I had a set of Goodyear TripleTred Assurance on my Corolla. Incredible tires. If their Futura line (TripleTreds for trucks) is as good, I'd go with them, IF the truck was gonna stay only on the road. For off-road, I'm gonna be watching this thread.

 

commercial truck tires... you will never wear them out on a taco LOL (well you did say money is no object)

I really liked the Firestone Destination AT's that I had, someday, I'll have the FS MT's.

 

The BFG AT KO's are ok, but the FS MT's are what I really wanted

Oh yeah! My truck had the FS AT's on it when i got it. I liked them so I researched the MTs and liked what I saw......some bad-ass tires...

 

we have the goodyear assurance triple tred's on our honda accord....over 2 years now, and they still look new!!!! been a helluva tire, imo!!!

I'm interested in whether the previous replies are really considering how quiet a tire is. We can find data on rolling resistance and treadware, but does anyone report the relative NOISE of a tire? Since a Tacoma is a bit noisy from wind noise and lack of insulation, I'd love to know how quiet a tire will be before I buy it.

 

well....the bridgestone dueler a/t revo's i had on the 06 tacoma i had were quiet as a church mouse!! honestly, really quiet, as well as the goodyear wrangler silent armors also.

 

Firestone Destination AT's. Totally silent, excellent street traction and very competent off-road as well. Check out the tire ratings at TireRack.com.

 

I can vouch for their capabillity, but they didn't last as long as I expected them to.

 

Firestone Destination AT's - these seem to be coming up in more posts than others. I had heard some good things about these, but have had no experience with any Firestone tires in the past...

Michelin LTX M/S - I've always heard good things about Michelin tires, the guy at Discount Tire told me these would be the best hands down when I asked this question there about 6 months ago...

I currently have the BFG M/T KM2s on my Jeep, they are relatively quiet for a M/T tire, and are great off road. These work for my Jeep, but looking for more street friendly for my Taco.

yeh my taco came stock with michelin ltx m/s on it... they arent a bad tire last a long time etc... but they are just so plain looking lol... and in mud they suck....obviously I'm not talking about offroading in 8" of mud I'm saying driving through my field after rain...lol

 

Why would I be kidding? I have a buddy with a set of 35"s on his truck and those things are fucking awesome.

I don't really care to much about them being quiet. Moms Sequioa has the LTX M/S and her first pair lasted 70K miles. Great tire, but not near agressive enough for me.

I'd also really like a pair of KM2s.
