    Hello hello.

I am in the market for “amber fogs” I do a lot of winter/ snow driving and I’ve heard ambers are just the best. I’m looking for some feedback or maybe recommendations for another brand.

Currently I am looking at these.
RUN-D Amber Cube Led Driving Lights 3 inch CREE Off Road Lights (Amber LED) - 1 Pair https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018V7GXCW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Ji4kAbKHNR9DC

They have decent reviews. So I’m leaning towards them.

I’d love to hear others opinions.
They have to fit in my bumper cut outs which I think are 3” round. Thanks!!

Forget the amber-colored fog lights. I asked about amber ones when I was working at the Hella factory in Lippstadt (Germany) some 45 years ago. The engineers told me the difference the amber lights produce are in the heads of the driver. White light fog lights produce a bit more light than the colored ones and are easier on the eyes.

PIAA 510 Ions are amazing in the snow. Best lights I've ever used and definitely worth the money.

Really? Everything I’ve heard is that white reflects off of snow and essentially blinds you. Kind of like having your brights in while driving in fog?

I'm just repeating what the Hella engineers told me.

If white light reflects off snow, I'm sure that yellow light will reflect as well.

Fog lights should be mounted as low as practical so the light they produce hits the road surface and is reflected through the fog and back to your eyes. Fog tends to lift up from the ground by 8 to 12 inches, and mounting the lights low will light the road rather than the fog. If the glare from the fog seems like too much then the lights are most likely too high and the light is being reflected from the fog and not so much from the road surface. If the fog lights do not help (and sometimes they don't because the fog is actually on the road) then turn 'em off and drive slower.

Most of the fog light installations I've seen over the years are on top of the bumper, but that way they will reflect off the fog and not the road surface.

I've since moved from Germany to Colorado and have not seen fog for or driven on show for more than 46 years. ;)

Hmmmmmmmmm. That could make sense. Everytime I’ve turned my light bar on in fog, it’s completely blinded me. But the light bar is right next to my face... haha

Yeah, I’d be mounting these lower and pointing at groundish area for fog and snow. Thanks for your info! I appreciate it.

No snow in Colorado?? I thought some places there were like snow resorts? I could be thinking of Utah or someplace though..

I run Rigid DOT/SAE Fogs in my Pelfrey bumper with the amber lenses. Can go from amber to white whenever you want. And the Rigid DOT's are specifically made to act as a fog light. Link to youtube shows beam pattern..

Haven't been in snow, but I'm sure it will help bc its yellow and won't reflects as much

I liked those Rigids, but they were a bit expensive, so I looked around on sites for best deals (like Amazon, etc.)

    Well drumroll please......

You'll love em dude. They're bright. And you can get the amber lenses if you want off eBay for like $20

Good choice! I had the Rigids on my old truck with the amber covers and they worked very very well in rain/fog/snow!

I think that the orange provides more visible definition in the snow. If I go snowboarding I wear orange goggles so I can actually see where I'm going. With just clear goggles it's almost blinding because of the sunlight reflecting off of the snow.

I know that's not exactly the same as pointing a light at the snow, but I believe that is the thought process here.

With few exceptions, LED pods and light bars have no cut offs. They are not fog lights, they are off road only aux lights. With no cut off in the beam, the effect will be emitting light in all directions including upward into the fog (and other drivers) which will reduce visibility. They should only be used on the street in situations where high beam use in ok.

    See above comment.
Excellent recommendation. These are one of the rare few LED fogs with engineered cut offs that actually serve their purpose as a fog light, instead of converting to aux lights.
    Good choice and great find!
