Just recently adopted a 14 year old Chihuahua. It's been months since my other 14 year old dog was killed by another dog while on a walk. I just felt I needed my old lady back in my life and sure enough about 2 months ago I found her getting ready to be taken to the pound. It pisses me off that people ditch their senior dogs. This is my 3rd senior dog I've adopted and I'm started to really enjoy it more than puppies. I love puppies but it's a ton of work. The seniors are already trained and just want someone to love them. Sure it's a short trip, but there are so many senior dogs out there that can use a good home for a few years.

    Anyways,

Cinnamon, or as I call her Cini-mini. She is mostly deaf and blind and was 14 lbs and over weight. She's now 11lbs and does great with my other 4 dogs and loves her cabin trips!

Yes, like thank you. The lady we got her from is a vet tech and got her name from the movie "The Ugly Dachshund" about a Great Dane who believes it's a Dachshund after nursing with a litter of them.

Apparently someone dropped Danke off outside the vet as a puppy right after she was born. She nursed with a litter of Chihuahua's that were already at the vet and that gave the lady the idea for her name. She's smaller than most boxers, but perfectly healthy.

Wow, man. So awesome that you take the time to give senior dogs the extra care, and love they require. Reading your post restores my faith in human beings. Much respect from me.

    Yeah.
My wife was telling me that my dog keeps waking her up with a smile. Not sure this is a smile, looks like maybe she farts a lot before she wakes up.

    Nice looking dogs

Growing up I always loved GSD's. We were told that the dogs my grandpa had were GSD's (which they would of been considered back in the early '90's), only to find out a couple months ago (after visiting my grandmother) that they had had original shiloh shepherds from tina barber (breed founder).
Fast forward to 2 years ago when we were looking for breeders and stumbled upon the shilohs (not knowing). Since we got my boy, we have only been astounded by the breed and community (rivals that of TW). We got him from Rhonda van Emon at brick chapel shilohs in Lancaster Ohio. I would recommend her & the other ISSDC breeders.
However, I would highly recommend staying away from Lisa barber (tina's daughter) and the ISSR. They tend to run puppy mills for profit vs trying to breed out the genetic issues with the breed. My grandpa had many issues with the dogs he had (torro had almost no elbows), and the only excuse tina gave was that none of the other dogs in the litter had those issues (when in fact they did). The only compensation he got was another dog with different issues (trooper-psychiatric/aggression). We have also had friends that got dogs with parvo, worms, and other kennel issues with no compensation from Lisa.

My little guys had a long day. Been laying around drugged up after getting home from his vet visit. Happy to finally get the last of the things he needed done as a pup. Micro-chip, rabies shot and no more balls! Barely made it in the door before laying down for a nap. He was happy to be back home after just a few hours. Not surprised but he hates the cone2017120895135802cropped.jpg .

So sorry to hear that. Makes me mad to hear stories of mills. Wife and mil have been breeding and showing dogs for about 40 years. Wife now breeds blue frenchtons and does an extensive dna testing, eyes, hearing etc.
