If you think that is awful, you should be an owner of a Tacoma that has been sprayed with CRC compound and need to grease jerks or do any work under the frame. After working under my frame, I'm always covered in the (black tar) CRC compound, so I always have to wear cloths that I don't mind wrecking, because that CRC doesn't wash off. :(

I just fluid filmed my three day old TRDOR.

Put on one of those full body coveralls on and it was the best decision ever. This is definitely a job that you have to get elbow deep in.

I used 5 aerosol cans and didn't even get in the doors and boxed sections.

Tyvek suit for the win. This would have been a nightmare without that a creeper, a jack and jack stands. The 360* spray extension was nice to have too. After I got the truck lifted took about an hour and 7 spray paint cans with me being thorough.

Greased my zerks while I was down there too (all 5 of them).

If you plan on owning you truck for 10+ years it may be beneficial. If you live near salt water it can be beneficial. I can't speak for Tacoma's but most under-body (Frame, differential, axle housing, etc) rust is superficial, eventually rust will find its way to the body and eat through it from the inside out but it took 20 years for that to happen to my cars.

I have a 10 year rust warranty so whatevs.

Called these guys as recommended in the thread http://www.kellsportproducts.com/
Bob gave me a discount code to use. 151515 is the code at check out. Dropped my kit down $30.
Still 175 bucks even with the discount. A little high but this isn't something you'll ever have to buy again.

Ok. These are my results after salting it (snow salt and water from a spray bottle). Mavcoat side has a little sporadic rust specks, fluid film has one rust speck. Middle is the control. I'll use mav on my truck, just coat it multiple times. I like the smell, and I like the matte waxy haze that it forms, will make it pleasant to work on it in the future as opposed to the slip and slide of the fluid film. The fluid film didn't really smell as bad as I remembered, so that's a plus.

ETA yeah I took this pic with a potato. I'm busy... but still sorry Maybe later I can take one that's suitable

I could try spraying this stuff all over my body to see if I can swim better. I mean. I'm half Asian so I'm already hairless. I'm like a freakin dolphin all over. So I imagine it would make me more awesome in the water. Maybe my fingers wouldn't get pruny. My gf is always trying to not get her hair wet maybe I could spray it on her hair when she is sleeping. Then when she takes a shower in the morning at my place, I could be all like "surprise" your hair doesn't get wet! Not anymore!

Fluid Film is an interesting product. I'm wondering, after applying to inside of frame rails do you need to reapply yearly? My guess is the inside will not get washed off as quickly as the outside and the rest of the undercarriage. So, I'm thinking reapply yearly to visible part of frame and undercarriage but do inside of frame every two or three years.
    Is that reasonable?

Never too late, stops rust that's already started too

Inside the rockers I would not worry about, underneath the truck I would reapply every year. In the spring I plan on hosing the whole underside off and reapplying right before winter again

Yearly (or more often) application is recommended.

C'mon guys there is a ton of research already done out there in the ether for you to find...

Will it fend off calcium chloride ? Nebraska used to spread salt, but now they spray something equivalent to calcium chloride, it is a wicked rust causing substance !!

Come on people, snow and salt are just around the corner.

Today I rotated the tires and changed the oil. Took off all 4 tires and the front skid plate. Perfect opportunity to get the undercarriage fluid filmed before the snow season starts.

I tried to video the spray gun that I got from Kellsport because it works really well. Hard to video and spray at the same time, so no go, but I would recommend it to anyone who plans on using fluid film every year, because it does a good job.

Saw some rust spots on the sheet metal body panels on the underside, will keep an eye on that.

I fluid filmed my truck for the first time today in preparation for winter and not a minute too late... the snow just started flying here this afternoon! Defintely a messy job but the kellsport setup with the extensions is worth it. I'm a big DIY guy and like the idea of being able to do it myself and save $$ over bringing it somewhere. It took a little bit to "dial in" the kellsport sprayer to get the spray right but once I did, the job didn't take very long.

Just in case anyone is wondering what happens when you accidentally kink the extension and then pull the trigger, the gunky fluid film blows out of the vent holes in the reservoir. I was like "FML!!"IMG_5189.jpg
