Sooooo. I went to the Lego store to redeem my free Gingerbread mini figure. So I picked up the Star Wars brickheadz to cover the purchase needed. Well I saw the Palace Cinema on the shelf for $115. So I didn't need a second but it was a great price, plus I got the bus and keychain for free. And to top it off I got double VIP points. Damn you Lego, you got me good.

Nice haul. And yeah, it always starts with "just spending 10 bucks to get the promo."

$115 is a pretty good price. Sold out online but doesn't show that price. I hate going out during xmas shopping season.

Yeah I had zero intention on buying a set. But when you see this, you have to think about it.

Finally built the heavy lift chopper after having it sitting around for three weeks. Damn, this thing is ugly, but the counter-rotating rotor mechanism is pretty cool.

That's what I was expecting at first, but it turned out to be a mechanically simpler approach (to build with Lego) though kind of a pain to describe.

    image.jpg

Control for the lower rotor set is situated above the control for the upper rotors.

The rotor hubs both consist of a black beveled gear driving a black turntable, as seen in center frame above. Control for the lower rotor assembly (visible) has the beveled gear below the turntable; control for the upper rotors (obstructed, power feed to the beveled gear is from the light grey gear, bottom center frame) has the beveled gear above the turntable.

Both beveled gears mesh with the large dark grey gear shown above and thus turn in the same direction, but since they are on opposite planes of their respective turntables, the tables spin in opposite directions.

The turntables have a hollow center, so a shaft from the lower turn table passes through the upper and then supports the upper rotor hub.

Instruction pic of this module for clarity, if it helps.

Great price but this was my least favorite of the Creator Modular builds... It's got some interesting elements to the build but overall the other sets are better IMO...

Posting here because you all can relate. I have a bunch of small Christmas Lego sets on my desk at work. Over the weekend somebody jacked my Star Wars Christmas minifigures, my Gingerbread man minifigure and a small Christrmas tree. Don't mess with my Legos. I hope management finds out who it was and they lose their job.

Stealing a guys LEGO's is lame.

I went to the LEGO store today to see about the Cinema...no dice. They even called the next closest location and they were out of stock too. Said it was on sale during black friday. Then I went to Barnes and Noble. Some of their stuff is on sale. I got Vader's Transformation for 18 out the door. Not too shabby.
