I'm a high school senior and spent 80 percent of my money on this new truck. Paid it off at the dealership and I am currently looking around northeast Florida for some places to offroad. Found this small place and went with my friend, who owns an xterra, and we did alright. Only had some tow straps on me and i was surprised at the abilities of a stock tacoma (I am first time truck owner but have driven jeeps and dodges of relatives). Just wanted to share that you don't need much to go offroading because i was hesitant to start due to it being a new stock truck that I had been saving up for years for. After testing the tacoma offroad a couple times think i'll need new tires and possibly a lift. I suggest you guys go out there and have fun before spending on things you might not need.

Does anyone know any places to go offroading in northeast florida?

Highschool senior with enough money to pay off a +$35k truck... man, I worked from age 13, and never made enough to manage that, even if I save every penny. Minimum wage and all. Anyhow, I'm jealous, and congrats.

Congrats! You have worked very hard to buy such a nice ride, and at your age! Enjoy the heck out of it, and keep up the good work and finances ethic throughout your adult life, it will serve you well!!

You don't need a lift and you don't need new tires.

Your truck can handle just like it is.

You Sir, are on track to be a model citizen. For a high school senior to hold one job is impressive enough, you have made it through 4 at the same time. When I was laid off a few years back I worked two full time jobs, one was night stocking at Home Depot, and the other was a daytime job at a mechanics shop. That was hard enough for me.
Please keep up with the good work and you will appreciate the things you buy for yourself. I can't give you a real beer, but here's to you kid.

Don’t forget things break when you go offroad. Keep some money put away for an unexpected problem. But out of the box you can have a lot of fun.

To be honest the pictures you provided as testimony to the prowess of your truck could be accomplished by a Mustang. But I get it, people think they need a 3" Icon lift and a roof top tent before "overlanding" to their local State park with designated camp sites and a picnic table

Very cool, good for you! Out of curiosity, what jobs are you currently working and how do you manage it with school? I'm a hs senior as well.

Stock tires are alright for 90% of what you’d want to do. The stock suspension with slightly bigger and more aggressive tires will get you about 99% of the way.

Now you have two ways to go about it. If you like modifying and working on your truck then the sky’s the limit, do you need half of it? Not really, but it’s the joy of building something up. If you’re looking for the bang for your buck for fun then just buy gas and a good map and go get lost in the forest.

Good idea. The value of my house has gone up 75% since I purchased it 6 years ago, let me go ask the wife real quick if I can sell our house for a SAS and a S/C. :bananadance:

You got the straps now invest in some traction boards for self recovery.

I too was amazed how well it does stock, and the only limits it can't handle is very rough trails over 20mph.
