Yu need to claim the value/country of origin/purpose of import for any item that you bring something across an international boundary. The importer (read carrier) of the item is responsible for all legalities. There is no, "I had no idea... I'm just bringing it down to a buddy."

    Good luck.

    I'm pragmatic.

Wisdom comes with age, experience, and a whole shit-load of fuck-ups, my young grasshopper.

Yep... My thoughts on this is that you'll basically have the parts in the truck, say hi to the border, and keep on moving. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

''Tis true...auto parts made in the USA are covered by NAFTA and as such are not subject to duty. Their only concern would be that they are a container for smuggling contraband, and a quick X-ray would solve that issue.

    Good luck with the xpress!

    No, I am not!

I'm saying that you will be bringing/importing goods purchased by an American citizen in our country to the US, and will be acting as the import/transport agent as you bring them across into the US. Think "United States of Hysteria" and "Homeland Security". Think Donald and his home grown policies.

    1) The border agent doesn't GAF if it's only a buddy favour
    2) You need to claim the value and show paperwork (receipt)
    3) You need to prove that it was made in the US
    4) You need to fill out paperwork since you are the third party and the import agent
    5) You will probably have to show a US import license and a CDN export license
    6) You need to KTA

Don't shrug it off as it's no big deal. You will be bringing something down that they bought. It's not like us buying something, going to get it, and bringing it back as the first party purchaser. If you don't have every fucking duck in a row, they may decide that you are bringing an item into the US to sell it without asking permission as a retailer, and then you are literally fucked. Don't be so cavalier about it and so fucking naive.

It's up to you, bro, but I wouldn't do it.

    Good Luck

I don't know if bringing stuff into the States is different than the opposite, but I've brought things to Canada many times, for myself and others. I also run a business and import commercial goods through the border fairly frequently. I've never had any problems just being straight up and honest, even if I had forgotten some documents, they are usually pretty chill unless somebody is having a bad day.

It's not as big of a deal as you're making it out to be, though that is coming into Canada, not the other way around. I've brought a few things into the States to mail, told the border guard, and they didn't really seem to care.

Your mileage may vary I suppose...

I hope this works, I’d suggest a small town border crossing.

    I stand corrected.

Not meaning to shit on this thread, but if it's a new item...

What I said. Just being cautious.

Yes, I am. However, the route as planned bypasses me by about 4 hours north and then 2 1/2 hours to the east. That leaves me out of the Ottawa loop, so to speak. Has anyone looked at the proposed route maps in the previous posts? It's the Regina to Ottawa that's a killer up here in Canada.

Yeah, I'd love to see this happen.

However, the amount of time, resources, and fuel consumed would drain one of our Alberta wells. The subsequent loss of revenue from that said well would negate the ability to purchase one of Australia's used F18s. We would then have to put back into service one of our rubber band powered bi-planes. I actually think this is a plot to undermine our national security.

... and if I have offended anyone ...

    sorry.jpg

nah I haven't looked into the other routes that were suggested. I figured we got halfway across Canada, so why not keep trying.

I'll look into those other routes tonight at work. got a loooong boring shift tonight, 2pm-4am. I wish I could find WiFi out there and bring my computer. I'll be sitting in my truck in case something happens on this job i am overseeing.
