Unknown lift, maybe 2" I don't know how to ID it, and would rather set it back to stock.
Tons of pages here in this thread, quite a few posts, so I searched Sticky Shifter and found 4 posts, and of course references to the TSB for fixing this. Anyone done this TSB themselves? I firmly believe that you don't need to spend money for parts on this, you can modify your existing Pin and reinstall if you have a grinder and are interested. The dimensions of the upgraded/new part number pin are all identical to each other, the difference is only that there is a flat side ground down the pin itself which prevents hydrolocking of the pin in its bore. I put a lot more info and pictures in this thread.

I've always had manual transmissions, I've rebuilt a ton of them as well, but none of the 6 speed Toyota series. Maybe the above thread could come in handy to this manual transmission fan club thread.

I think I've been more limited by my lack of armor, than not having a locker.

This was myself and a few others in a recent run up a steep and rocky hill. Only one of the trucks was an Off-road, one SR5, and the rest sport models.

Depends how serious you plan on wheeling. I don't have a locker, but would really like one to push my truck even harder. With that being said I've still taken my truck over some pretty tough stuff and I have wide open diffs. No LSD or anything.

Yep, 6 M/T means waaay more than any of that other stuff. I've used my locker a few times when off road, but not even sure if I really needed to (which probably means I didn't). It did make a difference when I hauled a car out of a snowbank once, but I mean.. how often does that happen?
The suspension I guess would be the only one to really consider between the two, and only if you never plan on lifting your truck later and changing it out anyway. The OR is a softer, more compliant ride - which also means worse handling on the street.
As for stock skid "plates" - lol, they are pretty damned thin and don't cover much (except for the pro). Most ppl who off road throw them away and buy real armor.
I believe you get the bigger/beefier 8.75" ring gear in either locked or non-locked rear axles, so long as you're also M/T. So that's a wash.

To sum up, M/T > the needz of anything else!!

    DIY Fabricobbler.

Didn't look like there was much air down done one any of the trucks in the video. A good drop in air pressure would reduce the amount of wheel spin that causes trail damage.

Great Vid. I covet the wheelbase of the standard cab in this vid. Mine is an extended cab cause at 6'2", I need to throw that seat back a little. Also, my Sport is a MT and as was stated above "...the MT really enhances the driving experience of this vehicle...all around."

Mine is also MT. I'm 6'5". I haven't sat in a regular cab, so I'm not sure how much room I'd have. I find GM and Toyotas provide more interior room than other brands.

I think your dealer just may be full of it. I've never seen a DCSB OR M/T and as you've said, only the Sport/Pro are shown on the Toyota Canada website.

Notice also that the 4cyl M/T is missing from the list, as was predicted.

My '16 Sport is now 2 years old and 40,000 miles. I was very disappointed when I ordered mine that I could not get the Locker - My choice boiled down to - Locker with AT, or no-Locker with an MT. At that point the decision was easy to make. As for suspension components...(This is my 5th Toyota PU) history has demonstrated that the factory shocks, struts etc will be failing before I get to 100K Miles. I figured that when that time comes, is when I will upgrade those items. I did that with my 2001 - Spent a bundle with ARB and the present owner has had to do nothing in the next 125K. Bottom line is that you can always add better under the frame components than you can get from the factory and it will be money better spent. If you are not in a hurry to beef it up, get your money out of the stock stuff first - My $.02- Clay

That's what I'm interested in doing as well. I've been in contact with a dealer in Michigan for pricing and learning about the import process.

I much prefer the look of the OR model plus the locking diff compared to the SPT even though the SPT has the MT. Bringing over an OR MT pretty much covers all bases.

So driving home from hunting today got me thinking about a complaint I’ve read about the 3rd gen manuals here. Specifically, when descending a hill in low gear and the engine braking cuts out.

Since I was already in 4WD (snow covered forest service road) I decided on the big hill I have to go down to put it in 4lo, 1st gear and see what happens.

It went down the hill at idle speed ~750 rpm, without me touching the fat pedal at all. No loss of engine braking at all, and while nothing extreme it’s a pretty steep incline.

    Is this a 4cyl vs 6cyl thing?
