    @Iamraiderpower

So, a few days pass, and then this woman angrily confronts me in the parking lot. She seriously tried to force me to pay her in installments to fix her car. Not only was I absolutely not going to do that, but I didn't even have that much money. I had like a few hundred bucks to my name at the time.

I'd told my parents about this the night it happened, and they were on "standby." At some point, Ms. Lexus came back with a quote for like $1,600 to fix her car. It was at this point that I decided to let them handle it. If I didn't have my parents to back me up, I would have seriously told Ms. Lexus to go fuck herself and ignored her.

Then, a well-meaning bartender at my future place of employment gave my cell phone number to the boyfriend. I was seriously in the shotgun seat of my friend's car and we were driving to a bar to see my other friend's band play when the boyfriend called me at like 7pm. I did not recognize the number so I let it go to voicemail. When I played back the message, I found it was rather intimidating message. I gave the number to my parents and let them handle it.

My parents met Ms. Lexus at a Starbucks and tried to negotiate a deal without notifying insurance. They went to the scene of the so-called accident and also inspected the minimal damage to the Lexus.

Ms. Lexus described me to my parents as a good kid who she liked a lot (yes, I'd known her for almost 3 years at the time this happened; she was a regular at the bar), but that I was 100% at fault because I'd been in a posted NO PARKING zone and I'd blindly pulled out and hit her. She refused my parents' offer (I think it was to get a second opinion at another body shop and/or pay for half of the damage out of pocket). Ms. Lexus wasn't having it.

I honestly do not remember if my foot slipped off the brake pedal or if I was lining the truck up to be as close as possible to the curb. There was a huge GMC van parked behind me so I could not see any vehicles coming. There's no way in hell Ms. Lexus could see I was in the process of parking, but she proceeded to drive between my truck and a brick building anyway.

When my parents got home, my dad described Ms. Lexus as a "Psycho Bitch." My parents decided to notify the insurance company. So, we called USAA. Ms. Lexus gave them her side of the story, I gave them mine, and USAA even viewed satellite images of the accident site. They determined it was 50/50. We decided not repair the $300 in damage to the Tacoma, and since this was my first accident, my rates were not affected. Unfortunately, I lost my accident forgiveness for three years. It didn't end there either...

People get into car accidents with scumbags all the time, but it's almost always someone you've never met before and will never meet again. You file a claim with your insurance company or you pay out of pocket and you never see each other again. When the person you were in the accident with not only lives in town, works right around the corner from your favorite watering hole, and is a regular customer at the aforementioned watering hole, but is also dating someone who works around the corner from your favorite watering hole and bartends there too... That complicates things to say the least.

Ms. Lexus and her boyfriend were convinced I'd lied to my insurance company (I would have gotten accident forgiveness whether it was 50/50 or I was 100% at fault). Boyfriend directly confronted meat the bar while we were both there as customers one night, accused me of lying, and cussed me out. Boyfriend was eventually fired from his bartending job for something unrelated to me, but that didn't stop Ms. Lexus from hassling me whenever she saw me.

Eventually, we just stopped talking and gave each other a wide berth for many years. Ms. Lexus and know I have Asperger's, and my boss believes that they thought they could take advantage of me because of this.

Believe it or not, almost 4 years after that accident, we buried the hatchet and became friendly with each other again. Ms. Lexus is still convinced I was 100% at fault, but we avoid talking about that accident like most people would avoid talking politics (ironically, politics are the reason we became friends again; we both voted for the same person in the 2016 Presidential Election; all you need to know is that it wasn't Hillary).

My truck still has the scars of that night, though they've been touched up to stave off corrosion...

FYI, the white on the bumper is just road salt. That stuff on the fender would be the remnants of pearlescent white paint, transferred from a 2004 Lexus SC430 more than four years ago!

Daaaaaaaaamn that sounds like one helluva headache! Your dad sounds like one cool dude :D

It’s funny how things seem to circle around. Time has a funny way of showing you how it works as the years pass.

“Sweet” and “C4 Vette” are not capable of being in the same sentence :D

    Unless it's a ZL1...

    I know that's not a ZL1, but the 1990-1995 ZL1 is a sweet Vette!

My personal favorite is the C5!

I know. I just realized my mistake. It would be fun to find a wrecked Z06 and then swap the engine and suspension into a regular C5 convertible!

Sadly, I don't think I've ever driven a Corvette. I've ridden in a couple, but never driven. I do know how to drive stick shift though!
