Factory manual does not call for loctite, nor does it say use gasket maker anywhere but around the half moons and the camshaft angles. Hope it holds, cuz I don't want to go in there again anytime soon. The bolts were just passed hand tight when I took them out, so I see the logic in the Loctite

Doing the tundra brake upgrade, having trouble with getting the top brake line loose, any suggestions or tips?

Make sure you're using a line wrench. I usually shock it loose, smack it in the right direction.

Damn! They look good. Great job!

+1 as I have a set as well. I thought of painting them matte black, but I like how these came out.

I’m curious to know how they hold up as well. I’m surprised no one else has tried this rather drilling holes in the frame or welding them on.

You’re still welding to the frame but if you ever wanted to sell the truck you could unbolt these rather than cutting them off and still be able to sell them. Seems like a pretty good idea.

    Help me diagnose, please.

Hit windrock yesterday. On the way home I noticed a whine from the engine bay area that appeared sometime that day. The sound was not there before the trip.

The whine is almost not noticeable at idle and increases with throttle. The whine disappears completely when I mash the clutch.

Any ideas? I’ll get a second person to sit in the truck and work the throttle/clutch while I stand up front and listen tomorrow. Until then, any ideas?

    Edit- 2.7L manual trans.

so brakes are installed and work, but they feel like there is air in the system? I’ve tried bleeding it over and over. Is that the way tundra brakes feel? They definitely stop good. Just wasn’t expecting a soft pedal. Anyone have that experience?
