My wife's tpms has been on for the last 6 months. I've checked the pressure a few times a week since it came on and it's been fine every time. I'm about to put a piece of black tape over it.

 

I have TechStream on an old laptop. After a while, dragging that boat anchor out and going through the motions to reprogram is too much of a PIA. I drove quite a few years without the need and did quite well. Just develop a habit of looking at the tires when getting in the vehicle!

 

Either a sensor is dead, or the minimum pressure is set too high.

 

Speaking of Boats. They say when owning a boat. The best 2 days of your life are the day you buy it. And the day you sell it. I feel like can say that about my previous STI.

Anyways. It boggles my mind how active this forum is. Being from the Subaru group, then the Mazdaspeed group before that. The community was so much smaller.

I'll just go ahead and say that Toyotas handling of TPMS is just plain stupid. If you want people to actually use a safety feature, make it simple. It's asinine that you need to take the truck to a dealer or have some extra software to recognize new sensors. Aftermarket wheels and having separate winter wheels is so common, dealing with sensors on the changeover is a nuisance that shouldn't exist. Every other manufacturer figured out how to make their vehicles learn new sensors without programming or a dealership trip, try to keep up Toyota...

 

jeep did much better with their tpms system, you just pop in the new ones and it learns the sensor on its own

 

I'm planning the lift for the spring. I would like to get the frame fluid filmed. But along with the lift some TRD Brolocks and 285 BFG KO2s.

Then some tint and OEM Audio Plus sound system.

 

GM and Ford are similar. You have to go through a reprogramming sequence, but it learns them on their own.

 

Nabisco used to be pretty busy before FB really took off in terms of groups, now it's pretty dead, at least on a regional level.

Nice STi! Having a lifted truck is a lot easier than having a lowered car, I must say.

Yeah... going to TRY, with the emphasis on TRY. My OCD with that sort of stuff is going to end up getting the best of me... I can tell already.

 

When I had a spare set, as long as I parked near them every night, the light generally wouldn't come on the next day.

Buy an Ultragauge and Velcro it to the steering column. Problem solved.

 

I have one... What exactly does it do, or can it do, about the tpms?
