Sun Shade for 2018

Was about to purchase one today for my 18 TRD Sport, but realized the camera next to the rear view mirror changes the dimension from previous models.

Anyone know if one exists yet?

 

Would scissors help?

 

They would if I gave zero F***s.

And, it would be a bummer to spend 50+ bucks on a shade, ghetto trim it, then have the new one avail a week or so later when the manufactures updated their product stock to reflect the 18’s.

And, Im partial to a thick insulated foam style folding shield like Covercraft, which would be way harder to cut exact as a thin rollup product would, possibly allowing for gaps.

 

Is that an 18?’

 

I thought the '18's safety camera is in the grill. The windshield GoPro mount is unchanged from '16 on, I assumed. I've been thinking about a sunshade and some reviews on Amazon complain about fit, independent of the GoPro mount, which in itself seems a non-issue

 

Only photo I have of the truck but you can kinda see it to the right of the rear view mirror. (Could be wrong, don’t really care too much about the TSS-P to research each component) but I believe the TSS Cruise/ radar shit is in the grill and other components like the lane departure radar are in the camera on the windshield.
It’s a unit that is attached to the glass of the windshield. It’s a separate unit from the go pro mount.

Be mindful unit may turn off in direct sunlight or when ice/frost is on this part of windshield.
Only drawback on wife’s Subaru

 

Well, I honestly don’t even notice it while driving, but it’s a pretty massive, bulky device nonetheless. Any 17 or prior shade model won’t fit, or will fit sloppily. Honestly more concerned with the shade than the unit tuning off intermittently

 

Almost certain, earlier models won’t fit. Have you tried Auto Everything

Second, you could be a little more straightforward with your explanation of exactly what you're looking for instead of belittling @ICU1 when he clearly doesn't know exactly what you are speaking of... Just a thought.

Went on CARID, searched using 2018 Toyota Tacoma DC and found this one to be the biggest in the photos. Yes, you are right in some aspects, there are few to none specifically made for the Tacoma windshield and safety sense. With that said, if you look at the second photos provided in the link above, the sunshade looks to be placed inside maybe, a Sienna, with safety sense... Which means it could possibly fit yours with safety sense. I'm only basing my suggestion off of the picture you provided vs the picture in the link which both show an offset safety sense box to the right of the rear view mirror.


Edit: With all that said, they should be available in time, just as some started to become available for my 17' F-150 Lariat (Yes, I still have my 07 DCSB). I have almost every option available in my 17 including Ford's lane assist and cross traffic alert which alerts me if someone is going to run the red light and potentially t-bone me. I had the same issue for some time being there was now a larger rear view mirror attachment because they placed the box directly in the middle of the windshield.

First, I literally purchased this truck for the color as I tired of magnetic gray, black and silver. This superseded my opinions on the tailgate,( or the grille) of which I’m still not a fan of either. For example, I don’t like the Tacoma stamp on my 18 but color meant more to as a consumer to make that decision. So... your point? Was that intended to be a crippling “gotcha?”

Second, I wasn’t belittling anybody. I stated very clearly what I was looking for and why. And was simply being repeatedly told matter of factly that the TSS equipment was in the grille. If I’m going into a topic and flat out tell someone something as if it’s fact, the burden of accuracy lies on me and I personally first ensure that I’ve done my due diligence that that information is accurate.

Third and potentially final, I’ll have to do research into actual dimensions of the Tacoma windshield and determine exactly what vehicle is contained in the link, but it’s an interesting idea and could potentially work.

 

Not a "crippling "gotcha"?", just something I noticed that peaked my interest in the bantering that was ensuing.

You clearly didn't state in your original post that you were speaking of the 18' specific PCS w/PD, and as Toyota is, they wanted to add another gimmick to there "new" generation of tacoma and added the GoPro mount which everyone to date is pretty familiar with. That's why he kept stating facts, and you kept beating around the bush.

Hopefully it works out for you or a vehicle specific one pops up sometime in Q1/18 from a brand name. Time will tell.
