On a side note, I messaged the vendor/producer/exporter at grillpro (eBay) about the type of plastic and UV stabilizers, if any. Here is the reply:

So we learn a couple things from this message. First and foremost, as we've all suspected, grillpro is motorfansclub is most likely recamera and is most likely also areyourshop-a and maybe that bruce guy as well! Secondly, there are no UV stabilizers in the plastic.

ABS is inherently not very stable under UV exposure (classified as "low" or "poor"). Now, who knows if even the genuine Toyota part has stabilizers in mix. Based on some brief research online, I would think NOT, as ABS seems to only benefit from a UV protectant if it's extruded as part of the molding process or "sandwiched" as a top layer. Only a time comparison after sunlight exposure between genuine OEM part and the replica would confirm their durability differences.

So expect some degradation of the plastic, either by micro-cracking, graying/oxidation, or a combo platter of all of the above. However, this can be said about most plastic parts on cars that are ABS. Remember, ABS just sucks in general in outdoor applications. I just hope its not as bad as the plastic parts that were on my 2006 Frontier!

So at any rate, I'm not too worried about it. I use Zaino polishes and sealants, which almost all of their products contain a UV sunscreen. Their sealant Z2/Z3 goes on easy, even over plastic, and does not leave any white residue. So if your sealant/wax of choice does the same, just be sure to put it on the grill as well. Otherwise, 303 Aerospace Protectant is good stuff too, and easy to apply.

Attached is an info sheet regarding ABS plastic...more than you ever want to know!

Yes you will have to sign for it. If you can’t, you’ll have to pick it up at the post office.

This makes me wonder....is it possible that even the black plastic grilles are painted black on the front? I’m starting to suspect this is possible to mask imperfections in the mold surface finishes. Can anyone with a black grill check? My painted gray plastic grill from motorfansclub clearly has paint runs on the back.

Anyone else receive a product that has each individual letter separate from the grill itself?
