I seem to have one major obsessive hobby a year. One year it was rebuilding a vintage motorcycle, one year I built a model railroad layout. One year I built a tube guitar amp from scratch. One year was modding my taco. This year has been guns. My kiddo is saving $ for a kart. I told him I'd match him dollar for dollar. He hasn't decided on dirt or asphalt. I'm hoping dirt as it's (theoretically) a bit cheaper and more blue-collar than the fancy asphalt kids. Plus, there's a track 20 minutes away rather than an hour. Building one from the frame up would be enjoyable for both of us, but I'm hoping to get something near-complete that we can learn & tinker with. It'll take awhile to build up the tooling and stuff to go racing.

    Here's our local track:

In honor of Petty running the bowtie again, here's the last time the 43 was a Chevy:

Technically, it was 2002. Andretti drove the Grand Prix and then they went back to Dodge when the manufacturer came back to NASCAR. The only thing Pontiac was the nose, the rest was all Chevy. ;)

Right. So technically, it was a GMC Yukon too, since they had a 350 powerplant:

Right. Aside from a few specialty production model power plants, GM consolidated engine manufacturing programs around 1980. Those cars are some of my favs. I’d give a kidney for an overweight, underpowered ‘88 Monte Carlo SS.

I'd like to have an '88 2+2 Aero Coupe. My buddy has, get this, 3 of them!! He wants to sell one and it's 95% complete and runs well, but it'd be like pulling eye teeth trying to find the parts that he cannibalized off of it for the other 2.

Here's a couple of old school Busch Series schemes from the early '90s:

    Jeff Burton, J&J Racing Chevy
    [IMG]

Jeff Gordon, Bill Davis Racing Ford

Curtis Markham (BGN North, also, "discovered" Denny Hamlin for JGR)

    Davey Johnson Pontiac
