oh, no... it was costing me $120 a week in gas to drive the Tacoma.... it costs me $20 a week commuting in the Prius

so it's a significant savings by keeping the Prius or a more fuel efficient car for commuting.

that's my overarching point.... I literally NEVER drive the Tacoma (except to Home Depot and meetups), yet I pay $350 a month in a truck payment....

I feel like I'm paying a lot of money every month for a truck I barely drive

2015+ WRXs pull 28 mpg! that new FA20 is remarkably fuel efficient compared to the old ones

while I agree, it's not 50mpg like the Prius, it's still almost double the Tacoma haha

Ehhhh sure maybe... As I'm sure you know, any boosted car has a gas mileage figure that is much more variable on your right foot. NA cars certainly vary a little as well but FI cars just eat gas if you romp on it at all.

I had a 2017 WRX Limited out in Hawaii and if def gets the advertised mileage (obviously, as you said, keeping your right foot up has a LOT to do with it)

@TacoCat and @buyobuyo can you confirm... are you guys getting the advertised mileage? I consistently stayed between 26-28mpg in Hawaii when I had mine

haha that's one thing I dont miss.. tolls.... luckily, I dont hit any tolls on any of my commute from WV.

when I lived in Ashburn, it was legitimately faster to take 267 each way to get to DC, but now it's a nominal difference to avoid all the tolls.

Alright, let's say your weekly mileage is 500. At that rate, using the average cost of gas, the Prius would cost you $25 a week. The taco would cost you $78 a week. That's a difference of $53. So, the Prius is worth about $5000? Let's say you sell the Prius, getting that $5000 in your pocket. That makes up the difference in the cost per week to drive the taco for about 95 weeks, let's just say 2 years, if you include vacations, days off, etc. Thus, you are justified in selling the Prius, and keeping the Taco for at least another two years.

Damn that's way lower than 16 MPG then! If I did my math correctly, that would mean you're getting around 10-11 MPGs average in the Taco if it costs that much. (500 miles, $120 in gas, divided by $2.50 per gallon = 48 gallons. 500 miles divided by 48 gallons = 10.416666666666666)

yea it's def costing me more than $78 per week haha because before I had the Prius, Karen and I sat down and did the math and it was close to $120 a week

haha I'm just going based off of what my Ultragauge says... but I wouldnt be surprised if it was closer to 10mpg.... with all the added weight of my skid, bumper, winch, sliders, larger tires etc... BEST case, it's getting 12 mpg (because I just did spark plugs, air filter, etc.... that could have also been killing my mpgs (the spark plugs were no doubt original and the air filter wasnt much better)

This season on "Flip my ride" it seems Caleb's retirement was short lived. On the chopping block is not one but two cars. His new tactic this season is to appeal to the audiences logical side and use comprehensive math to support his argument. This all started as a "hypothetical" but people are quickly realizing that it was just smoke and mirrors.

Real question on everyone's mind "will he part out?".

Stay tuned as this season develops "Flip my ride"
