What are the cutouts above the wheel wells for?

Seriously? I can't figure it out.

but if you're looking for a use for them you can check out the cheap/free mods thread. Some people, myself included, have mounted fog lights in them to have some light available in the bed.

 

are u talking about the front passenger wheel well cuz that where the intake sucks in fresh air

Didn't know that, it all makes sense to me now.

 

I use the ones in the bed to put my wallet and keys in (I've got a shell) when I sleep in the back while camping. They're my wife & I's nightstands. Shell, Bedrug & Futon and it's a regular Motel 6.

One of my friends who works for toyota told me they are lift points for installing the bed at the factory. They serve no purpose otherwise.

 

hahaha, that's awesome...in a sad kind of way

well, at least they tried to make them semi functional. i just usuallytoss my dirty work gloves in there and stuff of that nature.

Put a 2x8 side to side in those and you can haul 4x8 sheet goods flat across the tailgate ,

I have a few bungie straps that i never use stuffed in em

 

Since I have a canopy, the cutout in the bed on the drivers side is where I mounted the breather for the rear differential when I did the extension mod.
