The cash price only lowers the final price by $750. And that's a recent incentive from Toyota.

Thanks for the info! All that adds up to $44,992, excluding the plates. There is a current promotional discount from Toyota Canada of $750 off 2017 models for cash purchases. Can that be taken off the $44992?

Yes, you can take $750 off whatever price you're able to negotiate. That money comes from Toyota Canada not the dealer.

Does the quote you receieved include a breakdown in all the fees? Block heater, admin fee etc.

One of the quotes I have is broken down. Interestingly enough I don't think the trucks in southern Ontario get the block heater.

I'm in Toronto. I happen to be going through a dealer in Cambridge as I was personally referred - so far has been a good dealership to work with. Here's the info. Dealer told me invoice for a 2017 TRD Sport is 36,435.00 (before freight). Which is $2955.00 less than MSRP of $39, 390 for a TRD Sport as listed on Toyota.ca. In other words, with the discount of $1817, the price would be $37,573, or $1,138 over invoice.

As I mentioned, my current lease 2016 TRD Sport had the unfortunate past of being victim to 3 hit and run parking lot incidents (all reported through insurance) and is over mileage (to the tune of about $4700!!). I'm told the buyout offered by the dealership is $31,054 plus tax. This is apparently very generous as that number does NOT reflect the "accident history" which of course reduces buyout value.

In other words, for the moment, it looks like I'd be paying $1,138.00 over invoice, with a TRD grille thrown in gratis.

I was most concerned about the mileage penalty and the buyout being stingy due to the truck's "history" with dings/scratches.

I haven't really started aggressively shopping around since this offer seemed to suggest I wasn't going to do much better.

Anyone think I should decline this and keep hunting?

Offer them $43 700 all in, but before plates (if you require them), reflecting notional dealer profit of $500. If they will throw in the grille, go to $44 000. If they decline the offer, thank them for their time and walk away. They will likely call you in 3-5 days to accept, because that new old stock 2017 is going to get really hard to move starting on January 1 2018, especially as it is an oddball configuration.

As for your trade, get it detailed, take a few pictures, and put it on auto trader. Within two weeks, you will know what you can move it for. At that point, you need to figure out if selling privately is advantageous, taking into account the tax saving associated with trading it in. I am pretty sure your truck will move around $34k. You are probably better off trading it in, in that case.

Is there any tax savings if he trades it in and has negative equity though? I don't think there is. You only save the taxes if you have positive equity.

I know Ontario is different where there is tax on private used sales. But doesn't the buyer of used vehicle pay that or is it the seller? We don't have tax on used cars sales when done privately so I'm not familiar with how that works.

That's not too bad, the invoice price looks right. Mine was $3100 on a $42000 vehicle. I'd honestly dump the truck that has been hit 3 times.

He has no equity, he doesn't own it right now. He has the right to buy it out at the agreed price, that's all. I think he avoids the penalties if he does that, but I don't know a lot about leasing. Then he will have an asset that is worth about $34k (by my reckoning anyway). He can either sell it to a private party, or trade it in.

I don't think leasing is smart for most people. Particularly with Tacos, because the implied residual based on the published payments is much lower than the market prices for 2-3 yo Tacos I see on Auto Trader. That means you are paying a lot of interest that isn't strictly justified.

The buyer pays tax when he registers the vehicle. If you trade in a car at a dealer, you pay tax only on the difference between your trade and the vehicle you are buying.

Just bought a 2017 Quicksand Off-Road in Ottawa for approx. $44k all in. Just waiting for the delivery from another dealership (out of town). Told it could take up to 2 weeks.

    Thrown in the deal was:
Winter tires on steel rims (no sensors)
    Trifold soft Tonneau cover
    Pro Grill (woo-Hoo)
    Tub Mats

Gave me 8k for my 2009 EX-L CRV, (saved me from trying to sell it privately for 9-10k) That was a shocker that I got so much from a dealer. They sold it on a blind auction?????

    Can't wait

^Wow, that is pretty great. I paid $51k OTR in Ontario and I have to shift my own gears. Tonneau cover, $600 for winter tires as an upgrade over the stock tires, and A/T tires on 17" 4Runner pro rims.

Hey all, I am in Saskatchewan and have deposit on 18 Sport Upgrade DCLB Cement. All in out the door just over 49000. They gave me the same price as 17. It is supposed to arrive later this month. I am going on this week to negotiate on a skid plate, bed mat, all weather mats, air intake and exhaust. How has everyone done for deals on accessories? Oh and rims and tires are already in the garage!

This thread is so depressing :(. Reading this I just realized by how much price has gone up over the years with inflation, 3rd gen price bump and just the yearly price increases. :annoyed:

Holy crap I paid 42 after tax for my 2017 DCSB. I added the other stuff myself which was $1000 or so. I know the 2018 is more expensive but 5k difference.

    It list for 42500
    I got it for 38000
Plus cost on all the parts.
I work for Toyota so I get the truck at cost plus 1000 off.
Pretty sure you can get this price unless you work for Toyota
No acc truck would be 38000 plus 13% tax and what ever else dealer charges.
    This is in Ontario.

Truck lists for $40,545 + $1,785 freight + 100 air tax. = $42,430. Assuming no dealer doc fee, no accessories, and no block heater that's $47,522 list in BC after tax. Are you saying you got a $5,522 discount? Do you work for at a dealer. Markup on these is about $3,100.
