    Hitch receiver can weld straight to the bottom of the bar with some supports in the back. Shackle mounts would have to be sideways, which is kinda ugly but affective

    Ah, kinda. Maybe. In this instance, I don’t think so. It was a super steep decline, with a super off camber ditch with a high bank that just happened to hit above the tire line. Same thing got Carter. The only reason the FJ Cruiser with avoided the same demise, was that he is running 35’s that stick well past the fender line.

    Rear fender hoops would have kept this from happening. They’re on my list now.

    $56 in metal. Close to that at the beer store. :anonymous:


    Made some cardboard templates and cut out the frame plates with the plasma cutter.


    After a little tweaking, got the c-channel where I wanted it, tacked it, then pulled it down and welded. High and tight. Maybe 1/4” tops below the tailgate. Checked clearance real sciency by jumping up and down on the tailgate. All clear.


    Cutting off bedsides tomorrow evening. :yes:

    On the Stock bumper, yes. I don’t like it, but there isn’t a good place to put another one that isn’t right beside an existing bolt hole, or where something is in the way on the truck. Plan is to put I real good tack from the plate to the frame at the forward most point.

    Is your frame a c channel? Put 2 bolts on the bottom
