the bolts in my pic are replacements because i started shearing the originals. the orginals came with my Smittybilt winch are are the same size as the ones used currently... or at least i thought. i'm pretty sure i had the same problem with grade 8s.

    ...too much shit to list.
I have both a Factor55 .75 and a 1.5 fairlead. On both, the bolt hole is .460" and uses a SAE 7/16" bolt (which has a 5/8" head) and fits just fine with a standard craftsman socket. No idea how you had a 1/2" bolt in there unless you drilled it out.

I just checked and even a M12 (.472") doesn't fit in the hole.

this makes sense. the bolt fits through the fairlead just fine but i did have to thread the bumper. i assumed the Smittybilt fairlead would use the same bolt as the Factor 55. i should know by now that every thing i do to the truck requires at least one trip to the hardware store. thanks for the clarification.

Yup as @jberry813 stated 7/16 and 3/8 bolts can be used as stated on their site:

In some cases longer bolts are required and 3/8″ Grade 5-Grade 8 bolts in 1.25-1.5″ shank length is a good starting point for fitment. 7/16″ bolts may also be used. Please contact us for any specific questions.

    http://factor55.com/product/hawse-fairleads/

I’ve got 3/8 Grade 8 bolts on my fairlead and have zero issues.

Bought a roof for the side by side Thursday through Amazon with guaranteed delivery on Saturday, then on Saturday got a shipping notice and said it would arrive today. Now today I get a notice saying the 13th. So I checked ups website for tracking info and they show receiving the info from amazon at 7:30 pm on the 9th. The day I was supposed to receive it. Now it's showing up supposedly the day before I'm supposed to be ready to leave for glamis. Jist sent Amazon a nice lengthy email :annoyed: Rant over
