Does anybody recommend a Tonneau cover for a 2017 Toyota Tacoma long bed? Preferably trifold.

I love my Bak Revolver X2. I highly recommend it. It's a hard roll up that keeps the stuff in your bed secure and 99.9% dry. Also use the search function and you will find a million threads about this :)

Watch Craigslist for an OEM Toyota tonneau. They typically sell for $400 - $600. Easy to install, fairly secure, full access to the bed rail tracks.

I believe I paid somewhere between $800 -$850. It's on sale right now on tonneaucoversworld.com for $827. If you use the online chat function and talk to a sales person you can probably get it for even less than that. Install was easy, no drilling it comes with mounts to attach to the factory rail system. The mounts drop the factory rail down about 2 inches lower. Took me about an hour or so.

Thanks for the info. Just snagged the MX4 from tonneaucovers.com. Even lowered the price a bit though the chat, plus there is a $50 rebate. Not bad.

I have the Extang Solid Fold 2.0, and have been very happy with it so far. I can take it off and put it back on in no time at all if needed for hauling larger items in the bed. Like others have said; tonneaucoversworld.com is a good source, and so is AutoAnything.com. @eccracer104 may be able to help you out.

Thank you for the recommendation

^ As Scott mentioned, I have access to order a large variety of tonneau covers and can get you a better deal than what's available online.

If you're looking for a trifold the Solid Fold 2.0 is a great choice, I also really like the new BAK MX4 model. The solid fold 2.0 mounts on top of the bed rails, so it's a little "bulky" since it sits up top. It is very strong and functions very well though, and as mentioned can be removed and installed quite easily.
The MX4 sits flush with the bed, can be folded all the way forward and flip up vertically to give you full bed access. Unlike most other tri fold covers that sit flush this one will allow you to open and close the tailgate without lifting the rear panel. The Undercover Ultra Flex is very similar and also a great choice.

Good question, the answer is I'm really not sure. It wasn't very heavy from what I recall, probably similar in weight to a hard tri fold. I lifted it by myself when I got it in the mail. It's not flimsy by any means though. Definitely strong and it locks down tight. The only issue is that it does freeze shut sometimes in the winter, but I assume snow and ice will do that to many types of tonneau covers.

Oh wow, if you were able to pick it up it must not be as heavy as I thought.

Not to thread jack.. but I’m in between the truxedo, OEM, and one like yours. Biggest Thing holding me back is the price!

The thing I liked about mine over the Truxedo hard rolling cover was that my Revolver X2 locks the whole edge down on bith side's with a latching mechanism so you know it's locked in. The Truxedo only locks the tailgate edge and you can just lift the Velcro on the sides and gain access pretty easily into the bed with everything "locked". I thought Velcro was cheap, wouldn't last and wouldn't keep my stuff secure. As for the OEM, it seems to have mixed reviews, some love it, others don't but that can be said of most things. I liked that my cover didn't require the changing of bed side caps or cutting them like you would have to do with an oem. Also my cover is almost level with the bed sides, maybe sits up 1/4 to 3/8 inch higher at most. If you are interested in any aftermarket cover, I would buy it on tonneaucoversworld.com and use the chat function to negotiate your price down. They will give you a great deal and free shipping. Any more questions feel free to ask or pm me.

i have the Extang Encore 2. i like it and sought it out because:
    - tri fold and you can fold from front or rear equally easily
    - can fold down front panel (cab side) and secure it w/o blocking rear glass
    - removes/reinstalls less than 60 secs
    - looks great, well made, nice fit

only big con is that factory bed rails are relocated about 1.5" lower to accommodate the tonneau mounting rails. not a problem here but a consideration for many.

I believe one member I spoke with here got his Revolver X2 down to $830 on Tonneau covers world, so that's the price I'd shoot for if you decide to go with it.
