Bolts already threaded. Just take off washer, put d ring in bolt and tighten. That’s it.

Same here. I was going to order the McMaster-Carr ones from the tips thread, but it is sometimes tough to choose on McMaster since they don't have real pics. The ones that @adriancast posted look great.

Oh ok - I didn't even think that you were re-using existing bolts - that makes sense. Ordering some now then. Thanks for the tip

The D rings arrived on Saturday, but I installed them last night. After a lot of digging, scratching my head, and testing, I found that 60ft-lb is the torque for the large bed bolts. For some odd reason, the bed bolt torque is not in the service manual. Some antiseize on the threads and between the bolt head and D ring mount tab helped on the installation. The antiseize on the head kept the ring from rotating as I torqued the bolts.

I also lost some skin off my finger using a socket to hammer off the OE washers. I should have worn gloves, but even after the damage, I continued on bare handed. Haha!

BTW, the D rings are loose in the mounts. After a couple drives, they don't rattle but are loud when going over speed bumps, esp with a tonneau on. I don't mind it, but an easy remedy would be to put a slight crimp in the middle with a chisel before they are installed. Otherwise, a squirt of RTV between the ring and mount would do the trick.

Also just and FYI for any future buyers, the one linked above are for countersunk bolts. I kind of guessed that from the pics on the site, but it was hard to tell. They worked well with the size of the head on the bed bolts.

Good notes. Thanks for sharing. Were the oem bolts a pain to get out or rather easy? I plan to do it this weekend

    Thanks!

That is one of the things that I love about this area, living near salt water but no rust. After 21yrs here, I still can't figure that one out. Mine all backed out nice and easy after testing a few of them to verify 60ft-lb tightness.

The front four are threaded in a loooong way and were a bit catchy before reinstalling with antiseize. Save yourself a bit of work and use a drill / driver to back them out and to get them snug.

Also if your bed is nicely aligned, only do one at a time.

the best way I've found to haul a bike is use a front wheel chock (harbor freight # 61670) and tie the bike to it. that way you aren't compressing your forks against any part of the truck to keep the bike stable. then just use a second set of tiedowns to keep the bike from rolling or sliding out of the back of the bed. the other reason I use this is the bikes front wheel wanted to slip sideways on the composite bedliner without the chock.

That looks pretty nice, I did just add that front header rail.
With one bike I like to close the tailgate, I usually stuff the front tire in the corner......can you still do that with that setup?

With a good ratchet strap you can bust the bed... heck with a good ratchet strap you could fold up a metal bed. But has anyone actually broken or even cracked the two forward factory tie down points with a cam strap holding a motorcycle fork compressed against a fork brace? I can pull mine tight enough to deform the front tire around the front rail without the bed around the tie downs showing any movement. If anyone has a pic of a broken one (broken by tying a bike down with cam straps) I think it would be beneficial to post.

That tie down is 5 years old. Zero rust.

For your Priller - a good front tire chock will stabilize the bike and make life much easier.... Baxley makes an excellent Sport Chock that will provide a sturdy base for the bike when hauling her around.

I have one, but when its time to get the bike off the chock it gets very difficult, chock won't let go go of the tire. I need someone to step on the chock to get the bike off. PITA I would love to use it, that was my initial reason for getting it. I usually go alone to track days so its hard, don't want to drop it.
