    Look at it this way - it's Paint Over Rust - so you can paint over rust with it. However if that rust does not have a strong bond with whatever is underneath it - more rust or good metal, then it will flake off as the materials underneath it lose their connection. Prep well and keep it out of the sun. I can't imagine you'd have bad luck with it anywhere in coastal CA. Then again I can't imagine you'd have bad luck with regular spray paint covering your frame / under carriage in coastal CA either.

    heard the tale-tell squeak of a carrier bearing going out. and i was right, just replaced it 10-15k ago but oh well. i'll replace it next weekend since the only time i hear it is in reverse. also ordered my exhaust going to finish it finally

    Gave the banjo bolts a half of turn each. One must have neeeded it. Brake pedal feels great now

    I'm sandblasting the differential so I don't think the whole "paint over rust" factor really matters - I'm debating whether I should find a true chassis paint or just use rattle can paint from Home Depot.

    Did you have to drill or mod your banjo bolts to work with the Tundra brakes? That's what everyone was telling me but I ended up just using new LC engineering brake lines using the Tundra brake line system

    Unless I'm mistaken you won't want to apply POR15 directly on bare metal - there are better coatings for that. If you're going through the trouble of sandblasting then use a high quality coating. You'd definitely want to use some primer first if you're considering rattle canning it - something made for bare metal.

    I bought the Wheelers SS lines and their banjos work fine.

    Ah. This isn't my first rodeo refinishing parts. I had an old Delta toolbox than I stripped and refinished from scratch, I painted it as you would if a body shop were to do it. Priming, wet sanding, priming, wet sanding blah blah blah got tiring really fast. I have massive respect for people who does auto body work professionally; it's really an art.

    I spent more on professional grade two stage clear coat and Toyota #204 base coat than what I paid for the damn thing, lol.

    Did my grille guard too! Used aircraft fuselage paint stripper to get that powder coat off.

    If I'm running a winch, several lights, an air compressor, a 2400 watt stereo (that's the peak on the amp) and a cb radio. Should I go with a dual battery setup or a single battery Optima yellow top would be plenty?

    I plan on getting a yellow top anyway but if it's necessary I'll do a dual battery setup.

    Be updating my build log later tonight for those who want to check it out lol

    They should, I meant for people using the stock Tacoma line. The 13WL doesn't use banjo bolts, they use hard brake lines with a flare fitting.

    All the items you listed would be used when the engine is running. An upgraded, higher output alternator would be a better choice for that.

    A dual battery setup becomes important when you will be running accessories when the truck is not running. For example, a fridge over night or for several days when camping. Or if you run your high watt stereo when the engine is not running.

    The other big value of a dual batt setup is to recover from a failed or dead starting battery. Many dual batt controller systems offer a way to tie in the 'house' battery to get what is essentially a self jump to start the engine in that situation.

    Disconnected my ARB power outlet and moved the wires to a normal 12v outlet in preparation for a future mod. :spy:
