Slipping automatic transmission

I have a 2007 Tacoma 4x4 offroad. on March 30th i got my 46,000 mile oil change, prior to the oil change my truck was running fine. After i picked up my truck i noticed a slight ticking/knocking. i was fishy of the sound but i ignored it. and within the passed few weeks my truck feels as though i've lost 50lbs of torque. off the line my truck feels sluggish. while driving between 10-15 mph i can hear the ticking/knocking quite loud...i've had others drive my truck(they also own tacomas) but they seem to think i'm just hearing things. now today i was making my up my drive way, half way up i let off the gas and i start to roll backwards as if i dropped it into neutral. i have stopped my truck half way up my driveway hundreds of times and it had no problem crawling up before. This sudden slip scared the hell out of me. i repeated this driving up and stopping multiple times and each time it just slipped back. i have to give it a good amount of gas to make it up my drive way.. Should i be concerned...??i have always thought that the automatic transmission would hold itself in place when on an incline.I've had my truck in much steeper inclines and it would just hold itself..never has it just let go..

To give better prospective, it's like stoppping a standard car on an incline and then putting it into gear to get up.

It sounds like it has a definite problem. Why not take it in for warranty inspection/repair

 

I would but it is 2:30am here i just noticed the problem tonight.. i'm hoping its covered under warranty...

 

Yes it should be covered under the power train warranty 60K miles. As long as you haven't abused or misused your truck you should have no fear at all. Toyota should fix or replace it.

 

no abuse here ..it's just the fact that i'm 19..i dont get much service nor respect at my dealership..

 

I feel for you. That does suck. Dealing with the stealership can be a pain at times. But when it comes to stuff breaking under warranty, they are obligated to repair or replace it after they inspect it of course.

When you do get it fixed up let us all know what they did.

 

Did you double check that everything is right? Oil to the level it should be? Is your oil cap off or loose or damaged? Can't that cause a lack of oil pressure?

 

My buddy has a 06 4 runner and his tranny shit the bed.

 

My truck rolls back on steep inclines sometimes (when I am at a complete stop and come up off the brake), been that way since I got it brand new. All my auto trans have done that but still it sounds like something is wrong with your truck, who changed the oil ? Hope they didn't drain the trans accidentally.

 

Ok you have so many items here that are confusing. So lets take them one by one.
1. Loss of power after oil change... Well thats a tricky one. Cna you provide info who did the oil change with what oil? is it possible somebody put wrong oil grade? like 10W30 instead 5w30 ?
2. Car rolling backwards. Well every tranny does that however, what toyota did they installed system that applies brakes when dtects that car is in D but rolling back.
3. I am assuming your tranny never was services before, you may be due to oil flush in tranny, do you have tow package with tranny cooler ? You live in New Mexico so I would guess truck runs in high temps throughout the year. Maybe tranny needs a flush.

 

I had my transmission serviced by my toyota dealership.
That's what i was led to believe since my truck has never rolled back in D.
You are correct about my tranny being serviced. I do have the tow package. Would you know how much it cost for a tranny flush?

 

Each dealer is different. The dealer I go to offers the tranny drain/refill for $59 and full flush for $119.

lol i'm a nice guy...i've waited for 30min to be serviced...not because the service men were busy but no one wanted to help except a old man who's the only one that helps me..i dont act impatient i have my manners to ask for help but am totally ignored..the last time i got into an arguement with the service manager i was escorted to leave because i was getting out of hand..i dont yell..im passive lol i dunno maybe its me..

BUT on the plus side. i took my truck in today around 3pm and got it fully inspected. got a free flush and everything is fine. runs likes it is straight out of the factory!
